Moon landing anniversary - Coronation Street style

In honour of the 50th anniversary of the moon landings, here we go with some Sunday silliness. It's our look at Coronation Street connections to the moon landing anniversary.

Well, sort of. Try not to groan too hard.

Curly and Raquel looking for the stars. Curly named a star after his new wife, Mrs Raquel Watts. But then she broke his heart when she had an affair with Des Barnes.  And Raquel once quoted Oscar Wilde too. "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars."

Buzz meet Fiz.  Fiz meet Buzz.

"The Eagle has landed."

"That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind".

Almost 60 years since Tony Warren's first episode aired, footsteps are still walking the cobbles, storylines and characters still making history.

Coronation Street's very own spaceman. Norris once said of Kirk: "If brains were rocket fuel, he wouldn't get off the launchpad."

And when Kirk was going out with Julie Carp (Eileen's sister, remember her?) they argued and Kirk told her: “You’re a right bossy cow and you never back me up when I tell you I want to be an astronaut or stuntman.”

Speaking of spacemen, Tyrone dressed up as a a spaceman for Coronation Street's millennium live episode when the residents held a fancy dress party in 2000.
