Two Corrie stars confirm they've signed new contracts

Daniel Brocklebank, who plays Billy the vicar Mayhew, and Melanie Hill, who plays Cathy Matthews, have both confirmed that they are staying on the show after signing new contracts.

That's great news for this Corrie fan. I love Billy and am very fond of Cathy too, what with the actress coming from my home city of Sunderland, of course!

Both Daniel and Melanie confirmed the news to Digital Spy at last weekend's British Soap Awards.

  1. pointless characters.

only kept on due to their links to the golden couple - Gemma and Chesney.

  2. Didn’t Sue Nicholls received something at the awards last weekend?

  3. I quite liked Billy when he first arrived, now not so much. He is another
character desperate for a decent storyline. I really wish they would re-cast Todd and have some stories with them and Summer. Or even put Sean and Billy back together.

  5. Would be happy to see them both go. After starting off well, Billy is now just a busybody.

  6. Melanie is a good actress, but Cathy is one of those characters whom the writers have zero interest in.

  7. Not bothered. I would be upset if Sally Dynevor, Joe Duttine, Sally Ann Matthews left - and that's it. Roy's not in it much, anyway. Never thought I'd be indifferent to Chris Gascoyne leaving, if he ever did, but Peter's character was ruined by the story with Toyah.
