The previews are in for next week’s Coronation Street and Gemma quits her job at Prima Donner as the smell of the kebab meat makes her sick. When she arrives in the Rovers and gets upset behind the bar Ryan takes her into the back room for a chat. A tearful Gemma admits to Ryan she misses Chesney and needs him more than ever.
Ryan encourages her to talk to Chesney and give it another go but as Gemma and Ryan emerge from behind the bar, Chesney jumps to the wrong conclusion. Deeply hurt, Gemma hurries out. Chesney kicks himself, realising he’s made a mistake.
Determined that Chesney mustn’t find out about the baby Gemma announces she is going to live with her mum and that she is meeting her today. As she sits on the park bench waiting Paul begs her to realise that there are plenty of people who love her and she doesn’t have to leave. What will she do? Chesney pulls up alongside her in the car. Just what will he say?

ReplyDelete"Dr. Gaddas assures her she'll make a great mom"???? No, everything from the show assures us she'll make a terrible mom! Impulsive, immature, unstable, selfish, ignorant, slightly violent. How could Dr. Gaddas possibly know?! Having a child doesn't miraculously transform your personality! I'm really sick of these story lines where the worst possible potential parent becomes pregnant for comedy or dramatic effect, and competent wannabe parents--Toyah and Julie spring to mind!--are unable to have a child.
And surely, Gemma with all her one night stands knows enough to prevent a pregnancy. If she didn't get preggers with Henry Newton's child--a handy pay cheque if ever there was one!--why would she conceive with Chesney? And hasn't idiotic Chesney learned anything? He drones on about having to put Joseph first and look out for him-well, how does he think having another child to financially support from a random woman he shacked up will possibly help Joseph?
Just write her out already, she is not a popular character with the majority of viewers, can't imagine why the PTB think she is!
