Behind-the-scenes filming Peter and Carla storyline in Salford

A Salford housing association called Salix Homes has been helping out with filming for Coronation Street.

Corrie has been filming at Springbank sheltered housing scheme in Seedley and the Beechfarm area in Swinton.

Actors Mikey North, who plays Gary Windass, Alison King, who plays Carla Connor and Chris Gascoyne, who plays Peter Barlow were filming at an empty property earmarked for demolition in Swinton.

Sue Sutton, executive director of operations, at Salix Homes said: “The scenes filmed at Beechfarm took place in one of our empty properties that is due to be demolished as part of a multi-million pound regeneration project in the area, so it was great to see the property put to good use in the meantime and we look forward to seeing it brought to life on ‘The Street’.

“Salix Homes does in fact have a rather interesting connection with ‘Corrie’ anyway. The real Coronation Street on the New Barracks Estate in Ordsall is in the heart of one of our estates and is said to have been the inspiration for the name behind the world-famous soap opera.”

Proceeds raised from filming will be used to fund community projects in the area
