Belle of the Back Streets

Sally wakes in hospital with broken ribs and collarbone and is devastated to hear of Rana’s death. She questioned by health and safety inspector Wayne Hayes, who is the best thing to return to Coronation Street in years. He’s a gem, is Wayne and I love him. Sally sort-of remembers Wayne too from back in the day when he lived with Roy and Hayley. Anyway, Wayne tells Sally not to blame herself as she was not responsible for the roof collapse. Sally breathes a sigh of relief, as does Roy when Wayne tells him that the boat fire had nothing to do with the Underworld roof collapse either.  And as if that wasn’t enough good news from Wayne this week, he begins to help Roy and Brian unravel the mystery of Roy’s mum’s ring.

Seb’s happy when he gets a new job on a building site far away from Gary. But his happiness is short lived when Gary gets a job on the same site and the two warring builders are forced to work together again. But when Gary finds the builder’s yard broken into and his van window smashed, just who is to blame?

Well, Gary’s in a pickle when evil Rick Neelan returns. He was the loan shark who put Gail’s husband Joe McIntyre into so much debt that Joe faked his own death, and died, in a boat in the Lake District. He also kidnapped Rita on her wedding day to Dennis Tanner. And now he’s back, making life hell for Gary. Gary owes him money and he can’t pay. But as luck would have it, Peter offers Gary a wodge of cash to keep quiet to the cops about Carla’s part in the roof factory collapse.

Meanwhile, a service is held to say goodbye to Rana and there was lots of crying and that.

And that’s just about that for this week.
