Trouble is brewing at Underworld and a huge week of episodes will see Carla’s world come tumbling down and one Coronation Street resident dead and buried beneath the rubble, after viewers see a shadowy figure sabotaging the factory roof.
With emotional and financial pressures mounting, in a rare show of vulnerability, Carla drops her guard, admitting to Peter that she still loves him and begging him not to leave, while revealing to Nick that her plans to outsource the factory stem from the fact she’s in financial trouble and can’t afford to fund the roof repairs to keep the building open.
She lays her heart on the line for Peter, but when an emotionally exhausted Carla returns to the street her world is further rocked when she finds Underworld in a state of collapse and her staff and friends trapped under the fallen roof.
As survivors are pulled from the debris, could Carla have blood on her hands or is someone else to blame for the loss of life?
Robert has made no attempt to hide the fact that he’s out to get Carla for interfering in his relationship with Michelle. Is this an act of revenge?
Peter set off earlier in a cloud of resentment, angry at being blamed for saddling Carla with Nick as a partner, has he lost control like the Peter of old?
Meanwhile Nick has made it clear he’d be better off if the business went up in smoke. Could this be an insurance job?
Gary was responsible for the roof repairs, could he be to blame or could Gary’s feud with Seb be a factor? Seb’s made no bones of the fact he wants to see Gary suffer like he has, could this be Seb’s doing?
As the residents look for someone to blame health and safety inspector Wayne, who years ago was fostered by Roy and Hayley, arrives on the street to investigate.
As questions are asked and fingers pointed, who will crack under the pressure and how long can the truth stay buried?

Collapsing a roof seems like something that would require technical knowhow. I'm sorry but looking at the list of suspects all of them put together including the builders couldn't pool their intellectual resources to do this. I think this will turn out to just being an accident. How does the saying go? Never attribute to malice what can be explained by stupidity.
