Coronation Street job vacancy: Trainee Action Props

We are looking for Two Trainee Action Props people to join our Design team on Coronation Street. In this role, you will learn all aspects of working on a Continuing drama with a specific focus on Design and the Action Props role on the show.

As part of the training programme you will be allocated a mentor and work amongst a large Art Department to learn the wide range of skills required for the job. You will be taught how to breakdown scripts working to the Standby Art Directors prop lists. You will learn how these props are selected, sourced and prepared in advance for each filming block.

During filming you will experience shooting in several multi camera studios, on our exterior lot set and out on location. You will work closely alongside our Standby Art Directors and Set Dressing teams on shoot days and will be taught about compliance and aesthetic issues. During filming, you will assist the Design team by providing & re-setting action props when required, as well as facilitating any last minute requests. You will learn the importance of ensuring the future integrity of props, and assist with passing on continuity information to the design and prop teams via our Google Drive system.

Our Trainee Action Props Person should have some knowledge of TV production, an understanding of character profiles and a good creative eye for selecting props. As you will be working closely with a variety of people within the production team and actors alike, you will have exceptional interpersonal skills and resilience.

You will need to possess a high level of computer literacy and there will opportunity to gain relevant knowledge of Health and Safety, as well as Food Hygiene. You will learn how to provide a ‘action prop food’ list based on scripted requirements and on artiste dietary requirements.

Due to the very nature of this role, confidentiality and discretion are a must. Demanding filming hours, mean that a flexible approach is essential.
