How hard is it for Abi to say that she thinks the twins are better off with their foster parents?
It is the hardest thing Abi has ever had to do but she feels that it's the only thing for her to do because she is thinking of what is best for the children and she just doesn’t have any faith in herself. She doesn’t want the twins to have an upbringing like Seb had and as much as it broke her heart when she saw the children with their foster parents she knew they could offer them stability. For once, she really digs deep and does what she thinks is the right thing for her children.
Does Abi believe that she will be able to make amends with Seb after this?
She is really scared that she has lost him. Seb is made from a certain kind of metal that means he has managed to get through his childhood in one piece and he is self sufficient and doing alright but she just couldn't take that risk with the other two children. She hopes that he will understand at some point but it’s just another pill she has got to swallow in her desire to do the right thing.
Do you think that this is a turning point for Abi?
It’s a massive turning point. This is not something that she would have considered on any level before but she is really trying to get herself together. She is starting to get make friends and put roots down and that’s what she really wants. Her addiction will never be far away but she is certainly trying to put things right.
What do Peter and Abi have in common?
They can immediately recognise a lost, kindred spirit in each other because Abi has had issues with her addiction and so has Peter so they have an instant connection. They understand how each other's minds work so it is a shortcut to a friendship.
Is there a spark from the first meeting?
Yes, pretty quickly there is definite interest. Abi thinks, ‘Oh hello, who is this charming man?’ She is a smitten kitten straight from the off and the first time they talk, Peter makes the point that he and Carla are just friends, he didn’t need to do that. They have been the most enjoyable scenes that I have filmed so far on Corrie. Chris is just a dreamboat, pardon the pun! He is an amazing actor and we connected really well on this story. It was on the boat and so it was a bit like being on location. All the scenes were filmed inside the boat and there were only five people allowed inside the boat at one time so the cameramen were crunched up in a corner but it lent a kind of intimacy that you wouldn’t have got in a studio. We have both said how much we have enjoyed doing this story and working with each other.
Do you think that Abi and Peter are a good match?
I really do, he brings out a very different side to Abi that perhaps someone like Steve would not. She is laying down the foundations so let’s see what happens!
Although Peter has told Abi that he and Carla are just friends, is Abi worried about Carla?
Abi is very aware that someone who says they are just friends with someone after being bought a boat isn’t telling the whole truth, especially when that person keeps lurking about. But Abi is enjoying herself so she is thinking about just going with it and seeing what happens but she could definitely fall in love with Peter.
If Carla and Abi locked horns, who would win?
Abi definitely. Carla has got a sophistication that Abi hasn’t got which gives Abi the edge because Abi is an alley cat! Abi has got nothing to lose and Carla has so that is the difference. If it was a war of words or to do with making some kind of plan then no, Abi wouldn’t win but if it was an actual fight then Abi would kill her!

Oh pur-lease, Peter is about 25 years older than Abi! Besides, she needs someone far more reliable. Two addicts together is a recipe for disaster.
