Phelan's daughter Nicola returns to Coronation Street
Nicola Thorp, who played Nicola Rubinstein - the daughter of evil Pat Phelan - is returning to Coronation Street.
The Daily Star has a quote from Mr Curry Sauce who says: "Everyone is thrilled Nicola is coming back. She was always really popular on set and has so many friends in the cast. Producers think it is the perfect time to bring her character back. Nicola jumped at the chance to do more. She loved her first year on Corrie and wants to stay part of the family."
Nicola will be on set later this month, filming her return and fans will see her back on screen in January.
Producers plan to put her at the heart of the action.
Mr Curry Sauce went on to say: "Over Christmas we'll learn Gary Windass has gone to visit Nicola in Bristol because baby Zack is poorly. And then in the new year Nicola returns to Weatherfield to see Eileen. This doesn't go down well with everyone - her return certainly ruffles a few feathers. The hope is for Nicola to keep coming and going so her storylines continue to be exciting."

To the PTB... please, please, please have the sense to build out what her first year back on the street will be rather than just her arrival storyline. Too many times we see a character return, get dumped into the middle of something only to be forgotten about or become surplus to the show. Nicola is too good for that and needs a long-standing story she can sink her teeth into.
ReplyDeleteAgreed - very good character and very good actress.
