Corrie this week seemed to be a week of two halves. We had a fantastic double bill on Monday night filled with humour and pathos and then the rest of the week was just dull. I think we’re still in that phase of the ex-producer bowing out and the new one coming in to take up the reins, so I’m keeping my fingers crossed things will begin to move.  And so without any further ado, here we go with this week’s Coronation Street.

It’s the North West Regional Stylist Awards and Audrey is there with David. Claudia’s with Maria and Ken and they’re all seated at the same table together. Maria starts having second thoughts about Claudia and warms to Audrey again, which was nice to see. But then at the awards bash, Claudia nominates Audrey for the Lifetime Achievement Award. She does it to upset Audrey who gets very drunk, accepts the award with little grace and chucks her bouquet at Claudia. Maria realises it’s Audrey she wants to work for, not Claudia and Audrey takes her back as a partner. This leaves Claudia licking her wounds with Ken at the bar of the Rovers. Great line from Rita this week about Audrey having a drag queen named after her: Tawdry Roberts. Brilliant stuff indeed.

With Adam’s help, Amy draws up a contract to force Steve and Tracy into behaving as proper parents. It’s quite a fun storyline, with Amy calling the shots on her wayward mum and dad. If they fall foul of Amy’s contract, Amy tells Steve and Tracy she’ll divorce them.  Oh, I’d love to see her try!

Abi goes on a bender this week, unable to cope without seeing her children. Later in the week she’s up in court for the attack on Michelle’s car (the one Tracy really did) and she’s sent to jail. Seb decides he’s going for custody of the kids but the social worker tells him if he does, he’ll have to throw Abi out of Eileen’s house as Abi is only allowed to see her children on the allocated dates.  Tracy also comes clean to Abi about being the one who smashed up Michelle’s car. Seb finds out and gets his revenge by smashing up Tracy’s florist shop.

Elsewhere this week, Simon tells Leanne and Peter he wants to join the Navy. They’re heartbroken and send Gary Windass round to talk to him, in the hope that Gary will put him off a life in the services. But their plan backfires and Simon decides he wants to join the Army instead.

Sinead skips chemo this week and lies to Daniel about it. After meeting another young girl with cancer, Sinead decides to follow a vegan diet instead of going to her chemo and hopes this will cure her cancer. Oh Sinead, you stupid, stupid girl.

Nick’s wife Elsa stalks the street hoping for revenge of some sort. He sleeps with Leanne and then he’s forced to tell Leanne that he’s married to someone else. Leanne’s not best pleased, as you can imagine.

And finally this week, thinking she’s helping her sister Sally, Gina goes on a date with Duncan. She pretends she’s interested in him so that he’ll open up and tell her the truth about Sally. But Duncan knows who Gina is and the two of them end up arguing. Sadly for Gina, Duncan lies and tells her that Sally had told him Gina’s a bit thick. His words sting Gina. Does she really believe him over her sister? Seems all a bit odd to me.

And that’s just about that for this week.
