In this week's Inside Soap magazine there's a great, glitzy photoshoot of some of the Inside Soap awards nominees. And along with their pictures are snippets of information from the actors about their Corrie characters.
Interestingly, Georgia Taylor (who plays Toyah Battersby) says this when asked if she'll miss being landlady of the Rovers Return in Coronation Street.
"I never thought Toyah was a good fit for the landlady and I've always been honest about that. But it was an honour to be given the role."
She also gives a hint of what's to come for Toyah in the show, saying that Toyah and Leanne will regroup and get the Battersby sisters back together as a unit. "Leanne and little Oliver will become Toyah's world and the viewers are going to love it if the Battersby sisters become a little bit naughty again."

I would love to see the Battersby sisters come to life again!
ReplyDeleteI didn't actually read Georgia's comments about the character's poor fit with the role of landlady but perhaps she said it frequently to the producers. She did say in an interview that she felt Toyah's relationship with Peter wouldn't recover. Interestingly, we haven't heard a peep from Chris G; I wonder if he refused to give an interview. They looked horribly awkward together on screen. There have been other awkward couples so the magic doesn't always happen even if both actors are great in their own right. So, Toyah will get a counselling job at the Medical Centre. Didn't we always say that's where she should have gone right from the beginning? I look forward to the Battersby girls causing mayhem. Just a pity that Eva won't be there to join in but perhaps Janice will make a flying visit.
