Catherine Tyldesley, who recently left Coronation Street role of Eva Price, has said in an interview last week that she predicts storylines will be different under new boss Iain MacLeod
In an interview with The Sun, Catherine said she predicts that the storylines will become ‘lighter’ under the the new producer.
“I understand it,” she said of the criticism to the soap’s darker storylines. “But I’m Team Kate Oates [the soap’s producer] – she’s such a powerhouse, and sometimes that’s what happens in life. Sometimes things do get really dark. Bad things happen in succession – we’ve raised awareness of things like rape, child grooming, suicide… Yes, it was crammed into a small space of time, but I think we’ll see that flip a little bit now under the new producer. I do appreciate that some people will have found recent months quite tough.

She's talking twaddle.
ReplyDeleteAnonymous - what do you mean? You think the stories are not lighter now? Or what she said about Kate Oates? Well, I do miss the element of surprise and darker storylines. Perhaps, if Kate and Iain worked together then we would have gotten the perfect balance of storylines.
ReplyDeleteKate Oates certainly had the cast under her spell. Or was that just the ones she gave more storylines to?
ReplyDeleteActors love playing villains and darker stories they can in which they can stretch acting skills. We just don't find it entertaining to see them on a daily basis is all.
ReplyDeleteThat's a good point Anon. @ 22:30.
ReplyDeleteI think it is much easier to play the darker storylines. Grimace a bit, shout, cry a lot etc. Surely it is harder to portray an untroubled character really convincingly.
