Coronation Street Episode Review; Thursday 21st of June 2018 8.00pm

Welcome to the Coronation Street blog review of Thursday's hour-long episode

In amongst all this 'World Cup' football malarkey, it's nice to sit down and enjoy an hour of real drama, with no VAR* required (*nope.... me neither).

The course of young romance never did run smoothly on Coronation Street. Bethany reluctantly plays the reassuring BFF to a nervous Craig as his date with 'Speed Daal' waitress Kayla, approaches.

With the date now all arranged, has Cupid fired an arrow for the copper-haired 'copper'?.

The fall-out from Toyah and Eva's lies cause clashes between the Connor and Barlow/Battersby clans. Johnny wants a child arrangement order but Jenny isn't keen. Johnny sees a solicitor, demands a DNA test on baby Susie, and Eva is struggling to cope.

With Michelle and Kate firing venomous diatribe at the Battersby sisters, it looks like becoming an all-out cobbles war. Can Johnny and Jenny's marriage survive?

At the salon. Maria is left in charge as Audrey goes for lunch with a retired colleague. With Maria making management decisions, Emma's ditzy dithering gives her an idea. However, a sozzled Audrey has no retirement plans and decides to put Maria's rent up instead. Charming!.

At the factory, Alya introduces Sarah as her new PA. The girls aren't happy though as the job should have been advertised. Will her flurry of bad jobs for Sarah put the rest of the girls off of applying?.

Before the date, Kayla makes a swift trip to HMP Weatherfield. It appears she's visiting her Dad, who is, in fact, Neil Clifton, who sexually assaulted Bethany!!. Having sold his daughter a web of lies,  Kayla then launches a campaign to interrogate Craig and implicate Bethany.

It appears that cupid hasn't fired any arrows for Craig, it is more like a smoking gun...

Anyway, that's me done for another week.

By the time you read this, it will be Friday and another hour of Corrie is due tonight. GOAL!!.

Maybe football does have its benefits, after all!

Until next time Corrie fans...

TARA!

The Connors are actually despicable - especially Michelle, what a spiteful biatch she is! And Johnny's treatment of Jenny is awful.

I wish they would write the whole lot out! So sick of them all.

Oh, and the Barlows aren't much better!

  3. How low can Michelle go? To use the death of her own baby to have a go at Eva was unbelievably horrible.
Another nasty bunch are the factory women. It's always nasty spiteful comments first and then maybe some of them will engage their brain later.

  4. Corrie is on fire at the moment! I'm watching regularly for the first time in ages. God knows how I'll cope when they go back to half hourly episodes though, I don't think I'll have time to watch ,:(

Michelle is awful. Absolutely awful. There was no need to have a go at Eva like that and it was disrespectful to Ruairi's memory which is the worst thing. I wish Liz had been behind the bar at the time, I'm not sure she would have stood for that.

Enjoyed seeing Jenny back tonight and glad they mentioned her previous experiences as a mother as well as Johnnys multiple sclerosis - both things I thought the writers had forgotten.

Not enjoying the Kayla story for personal reasons but Craig is a sweetheart and I always enjoy seeing Bethany.

And last but not least, they could have been just a tad more subtle with Maria's story. Everyone she ran into made a point of saying how she basically ran the salon!

All in all though good episode!

  5. How is Sarah remotely qualified to work as a P.A. for Alya? Ridiculous.

  6. Sarah worked in the office of her uncle's fashion business in Milan.

  7. I'm so glad others are as disgusted with Michelle as I am! What a horrible person. Didn't she totally drop her biological son for that dope Ryan? I felt like reaching through my screen and slapping her one. Oh and for someone who was just shot in the side, she's now tipping along in stilettos?

    Cannot STAND her!

  8. The scene between the Connors and the Battersbys highlighted a missing archetype in the story line. The matriarch. How I would have loved Janice or Stella to emerge from the back room and give Michelle a good dressing-down. We needed a character to say all those comments above on behalf of the audience.

  9. Hear hear Humpty. Bring back Janice. She’s needed to heal the rift between Leanne and Toyah. We know Eva is leaving but at this point, I can’t see any reason for Toyah to stay. And I couldn’t bear to lose her too.

  10. As usual, Michelle made it all about herself. A boring, narcissistic character.

  11. Rapunzel\Humpty Dumpty,I wouldn't want to see Janice back as Janice would have probably approved of her daughter's scheme as Toyah sadly as become her mother's daughter showing no remorse for her actions and acting like she and Eva are the victims and not Peter and the Connors.
Although I agree that Michelle is a nasty piece of work,I think anyone who had to suffer the trauma of a stillbirth would have little sympathy for Toyah who unbeknownst to Peter 'replaced' their stillborn son without a second thought with Eva's and Aidan's daughter.
