Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 4th June

It's the aftermath after the Friday before (what a belting episode that was), but fortunately we have some comedy storylines to take the edge off. The three amigas meet for breakfast (Rosie: a herbal tea, Olivia: some chia seeds, Gemma: sausage. egg, bacon, bubble, beans, black pudding, fried slice) to discuss their plan to stitch up the bizarrely accented Antoine. At the longest ever photo-shoot (I thought the factory had orders to fulfil?) that is supposed to be for underwear but mostly involves Rosie wearing a large blouse, standing behind the stairwell, Olivia hands over the "drugs" to Alan, the courier. Gemma keeps Antoine talking (telling her the tale of her ill-fated romance with Henry Newton that I still, against all odds, want rekindled) whilst Rosie tries to get into his bag to plant the real drugs. He works out what's going on and pushes our Gemini into a laundry hamper! Antoine pretends to Rosie that he's working for the po-po and the whole thing was a sting operation. He pins a "covert listening device" (MP3 player in actuality) to Rosie's jacket and she agrees to speak to Alan to call things off. Fortunately, Special Constable Tinker is outside the factory and he makes a citizen's arrest on Antoine when he sees him counting a stack of dosh. Meanwhile, Alan turns up and threatens Rosie just as Gemma escapes the laundry basket and knocks out Alan with a roll of velveteen.

Gail is looking at www.easymoolah.biz in order to get a loan to pay Rosemary the Medium to get rid of the curse of Hillman, or as we now know, be a victim of The Charmer for the second time. Even if Rosemary were really psychic, she'd have no sway against the supreme powers of the writing team to make life miserable for the Platts! Anyway, she puts down Roy as her employer on the form (what is Gail doing for money these days? The occasional bottoming at the Bistro can't pay her rent to her son), but then lies to Roy when he asks what it's for. He sees straight through Gail, but offers to lend her the money on the condition that he come with her and get some proof that Rosemary has some clout. Over a cream slice, Rosemary feels Hayley coming through. She's with Alma, who wants to know if Roy is looking after the cafe and if he remembers his first day when he hid all the salt cellars. Roy storms out, but he's calmed down when he gets to Audrey's to tell her about the long con. Gail agrees to go to a psychic fayre in Prestwich to have a private session and Audrey insists on going with her.

In tonight's hospital scenes, Michelle deals with the bickering "brothers", and Sarah turns on Gary re: his role in Phelan's shooting of Michelle and Nicola, but when Nicola (quite rightly) chews him out, Sarah sticks up for her Boyf. Nicola says Gary's not allowed near Zac or her ever again, but that aint gonna last, is it?

The lovely Butterley (Mrs) meets up with Kirkeh to train Chewbacca (the pooch) and give Kirk her ex-husband's ex-clothes. She invites Kirk to go dress shopping with her so she can pick out a new frock for a wedding.

And finally, Steve tries to persuade Robert not to tell Tracyluv that he snogged Michelle.
