Moira Pollock - Yay or Nay?
Our guest blogger Tommy Cowell wrote a love letter to Moira Pollock some time ago on the Blog. And then she disappeared for a while after a to-do in the medical centre. But now she's back on the Street, what do you think about Moira?
I'm still in the Nay camp and I'm afraid I have been since she first appeared. She feels too forced, like a New Year's Eve party where everyone's telling you what a great time you should be having, but you're not. You just want to leave and go home and that's how I feel about Moira. I just want her to leave and go home.
In our blogger Ryan's interview with Corrie writer Jonathan Harvey which we posted to the blog here - Jonathan says that he enjoys writing for Moira.
But do you enjoy watching her - Yay or Nay?

Big nay. The writers' attempt to inject humour has repeatedly failed. The concept of degrading people through humour is irritating when strong characters like Liz would rip Moira to shreds.
ReplyDeleteHell nay.
ReplyDeleteMoira could be OK if she had a real female friend, someone to rein her back when she goes too far. There's a humorous, quirky individual somewhere beneath the forced hilarity. At the moment, she's the crazy sitcom neighbour but, if she had a pal like Yasmeen perhaps, she might settle down as Mary did.
ReplyDeleteHell to the Nay.
ReplyDeleteNay, cant stand the character!
ReplyDeleteI love this actress as Helen in The Archers, where she plays a rounded, more nuanced character and was looking forward to seeing her on the Street, but this character in no way displays her talents.
ReplyDeleteNay, nay and nay again. Everything is too over the top, making it not in the least bit funny.
ReplyDeleteI would be in the Yay, if she'd tone it down just a tad. I like the comedy she's bringing, which is much needed at present, but it's just too OTT.
ReplyDeleteI suspect that like Mary, she'll mellow with time. I hope, anyway.
Yay Moira, yay yay yay!!!!
ReplyDeleteDid no one else see last Monday’s episode?? She was utterly brilliant!!
Yay to Moira! Although yes she’s over the top, so is Gemma and I love them both for the zanniness that they provide to the otherwise Dark Horrornation Street.
ReplyDeleteI liked her a lot in the early days when she was only seen at the medical centre, and just had a couple of lines, which I thought were very funny. Less is more for this character, for me.
ReplyDeleteNay. The performance is too much.
ReplyDeleteNay for me as well. Way, way over the top!
ReplyDeleteCan I ask a question? Is she now a regular character? With a upcoming cast card?
ReplyDeleteIt seems that she was most likely a short term character when she first appeared trying to get under Liz's skin. Then they had her become friendly with Liz and all this business with her husband, moving in with Liz and her date with Steve. People were thinking she would be a regular character. Then she left. S
Now she's back with her old job. Is Louiza Patikas still on The Archers. Could that be the reason for her break?
Helen Archer is still a key character in The Archers, and I’m having fun in my strange mind marrying the two together. At least - and most of us have been screaming for this for ages - she is a welcome new comedy act in an otherwise depressing morbid long phase in our Street
ReplyDeleteDefinitely NO ! She is as nutty as a fruit cake and not in a funny way. Just extremely boring really.
ReplyDeleteThey need people to lift the street not make it worse.
Definetly yay, she is smokin' hot.
ReplyDeleteWhere the hell is she not Been seen since jan 🤨
ReplyDeleteIf Jonathan Harvey loves writing for her, someone should tell him to give her better lines. She's a superb radio actor and probably hasn't had much tv experience. I'm a nay to the bar flirt, but a yay for when Jonathan transforms here!!
