David Platt's beard - Yay or Nay?

What do you make to David Platt's new look?  Does the more hirstute look soot? Or do you think the beardy makes him look weirdy?

I kind of like it. It makes him look older, which I guess is the plan as he takes on more responsibility at home now that Shona's moved in.

So I'll say Yay.

But I would love for another episode where a hairy fella gets his facial fluff shaved off for charity like Kev Webster once did by Steph Barnes.

  1. David's a hairdresser! Surely, one of his salon colleagues could give him a better style. Too whiskery; maybe a little goatee beard would do the job. As we know, it's designed to add a few years. Atm, doesn't work.

    1. I agree. Especially given his profession, it's one thing to have a groomed beard and another to have whatever this is. It doesn't make him look older to me just sloppy and depressed.

  2. I don't think it makes him look older, it doesn't even look real, more like stuck on. It's designed to make him look more compatible with Shona. I've said it before and I'll say it again, it doesn't work, she will always look like she could be his mother. And it's not just the age thing either.

  3. Just like real life, people change their appearance. It's been hard for David to make the transition from young adult to doting dad but he'd do better to forgo the small hoodie and skinny jeans..pull those suckers up as well!
The beard looks okay, most young lads in this day and age have them...as long as he doesn't start sporting a man bun I'm okay with.

Now...never mind David's beard...what about Robert's hair? Va va va vooom!

  4. Not the greatest facial hairstyle ever, and yes, as a stylist, he should look sharp. Don’t remember Audrey or Maria ever working on beards; can they? Agree with Where’s Emily, he needs to dress his age, not like a mechanic who has slipped off his coverall. Or Seb. Esp because in that photo, it looks like we’re also seeing a little more forehead than we have in the past. 🙁

  5. I agree with those who say a better-groomed beard would be better than the scraggly thing he has now. Could even be a walking ad for the salon's beard-trimming service (if they have one).

  7. I think it suits him too, as well as the uplifted hair on his head. Do I detect a touch of blonde highlights in the front?

As for his dress sense, or lack of, it is a small back street hair and nail emporium, so I don't think he needs to sharpen up too much. Would be nice to see him make an effort now and then instead of looking like the male equivalent of Hilda Ogden in hair rollers. I bet he will now that he's dating a more 'mature' type woman.

  8. Not a fan. He definitely looks better clean shaven.
