Coronation Street voted Scotland’s favourite TV show

Coronation Street has been voted Scotland’s favourite TV show.

In a survey of the nation’s viewing habits reported by The Sunday Post, Coronation Street beat local competition from BBC Scotland’s River City with 26% of the overall vote, compared to the Shieldinch drama’s 25%. Even in Glasgow, where River City is set, Corrie comes out on top.

Only Dundee, Edinburgh and Stirling voted River City number one, with Aberdonians tending to be EastEnders fans (22%) and people from Inverness preferring Emmerdale (52%).

Guy North, MD of Freeview said: “It was surprising to see Corrie pip local drama River City to the post as Scotland’s favourite TV show, but with 57 years under its belt, those cobbles are tough competition.”

I can't think of any storylines that feature Scotland prominently, can you?  We've got Scottish actor Sam Robertson as Adam Barlow and of course Peter Barlow and his late twin Susan were brought up there.  And then of course there was Tony Gordon, who was quite Scottish too. But as for more on Scotland's connections to Corrie, I'm stumped.  Can you help? Leave a comment, ta!

Our fan of the week Skelf is from Scotland too
