Coronation Street episode review, Weds 14 Nov, 8.30pm

The 7.30pm episode ended up with an apt line from Zeedan, "What did I miss?' Quite a lot, actually!

We begin with that cliffhanger, Zee tries to work out why Kate left so quickly. The urge to shout "Behind you!" Is on the tip of my tongue, then I have to remember this is just a TV programme.

Billy is feeling guilty and wants to confess. Summer has let the cat out of the bag, and he is feeling the pressure. Do you buy him as a small-time criminal? If we had more hints along the way, I would have bought it, but for now it feels like a drastic change of personality to inject more drama, the acting is strong, it just feels too out of the blue for me..

Phelan and Nicola are at war, Fiz and Tyrone get a surprise visit from Mary, who jumps on the trampoline to de-stress. Back at Eileen's, Nicola brings news that she is moving to Oz. Phelan, time's up, maybe?

Todd and Billy turning into the Krays is becoming tiresome. But I do like Adam turning up in his long coat, with a dodgy plea or plan up his sleeve. I buy this character, as he has always been dodgy.

Meanwhile, Fiz and Ty go to the Bistro and spend more cash. Following the Christmas debacle when Tyrone spent more money than the advertising budget for Justice League, you'd think he would learn.

Adam lies on behalf of Billy, who sits next to him with his dog collar on. The policewoman asks if the statement is correct, and poor Billy sweats and cannot even look to his boss for guidance.

Rana and Kate have a heart to heart. I do like this story, as it well played. You feel the sense of longing and both actors are playing it for all it's worth. It is messin' with Kate's 'ead" and mine! But, it is gripping, nonetheless.

More gripping than Phelan moping because Nicola is off to Ramsay Street. Eileen fusses away and still does not see that there is a problem that begins and ends with her crafty hubby. Love is blind, sure, but Eileen has lost all of her common sense. I've said it before, but when will she wake up and smell the Mellow Birds!

Todd plays at being Prue and has a bake off with Summer and Billy comes home. This Kodak moment will not last forever, and the look on Billy's face suggests that lying does not suit him.and the truth will out. He reaches for a chocolate brownie, but he'll needs more than a lemonade with that!

Phelan attempts to cover his tracks again, by setting alight to some more evidence. All the guy does is burn everything. Nicola goes round to see Anna, and tells her how Phelan saw their murky past. Anna puts her right and Nicola sees sense.

Zeedan arrives at Kate's as he does not want to see the bride. So toothbrush in hand, he attempts to hide out there. Kate is then free to visit her, to sort things out. But "it started with a kiss", in the words of Hot Chocolate, so this won't end well for Zee.

Phelan offers Nicola some cash in an envelope. Anna is on the street grinning, as she is glad to see that the bane of her life is getting punished. Nicola has a cab waiting and she and Anna have bonded over this man's secrets. But cut to a grimacing Phelan and it's clear that Anna is next on his 'list' and I don't mean for a Christmas card!

For me, Kate and Rana were the bright spot of an episode dominated by Phelan and his 'burn baby burn' cover ups. I'm intrigued as to what will happen to Rana and Kate, but not really Phelan the drawn out 'getting away with murder' stuff, here.

Used to really like Billy--he was caring and kind but had a real backbone--that was how he was able to break up the fight in the pub. But now, seeing him so weepy, helpless and self-pitying, bemoaning what a terrible person he is--I have lost all respect for him and am finding his self-flagellation increasingly tedious. If he really felt that bad, why didn't he fess up 18 (or whatever) years ago? But no, he lived his life fine, became a vicar, and made a difference. It couldn't have been bothering him THAT much, or at least he was able to deal with it. And now he is suddenly tormented by it to the point he is a whingeing, snivelling, grovelling mess? Come on, guys, we deserve better than this!

Robbery, lying, cheating, my oh my, Corrie you have certainly moved with the times. I keep getting my comments removed when I'm too critical and write what I really think ...so here goes.

Wow...fantastic writing, I was on the edge of my seat...and sorry Anon, but the snivelling , whining, and cringeworthy suggestion of hanky panky with Michelle and Robert are not to be outdone on television...superb Coronation Street. Makes the old stuff just that..Old. Bring on more of the unrealistic, fantastic, codswallow that we've gotten used to. To heck with the humour, that's not going to get any ratings...oops...slipping into critical
    Again...wonderful episode!
