Coronation Street Episode Review Monday 13th November
Everyone's s a bit glum at the top of the episode. Kirk is upset because he, Beth, Craig, and Peanut are homeless (although Maria later takes them in). Mary is miserable because she isn't allowed to see George and Jude. Todd is restless after torching (what he thought was) Aidan's van. The coppers turn up and Todd looks guilty, but it's Billy they're after, on suspicion of a robbery from sixteen years ago. Todd gets Adam to go downtown to be Billy's brief and Daniel gets stuck with taking Summer to school, although his babysitting skills at least gets him a smile from Sinead. Under advice from Adam, Billy makes no comment, but later, he confesses all to the Toddster: he suffered badly after he split up with Drew, and fell in with a bad crowd who shoplifted, stole cars and robbed a garage. During this incident, the one that the police are interested in, the gun-toting, petrol station-robbing driver crashed into another car and totalled it. Billy told his driver to keep going, knowing that the other driver had been killed. I wonder who that victim was?? Todd swears never to leave Billy and Summer and promises they'll get through it, together. Hmmmmmmm.
Robert's OK though, he's out of prison, and doesn't have to celebrate his twenty-first (!) wedding anniversary with Tracy (no wonder he's gone grey). Robert offers Michelle equal shares in the Bistro, and over his favourite champagne, they announce their partnership and upcoming change of business name. Robert's Refectory? Michelle's Mess Hall? Preston's Potatoes? Shelbert?
The longest crowd-funding campaign in history is coming to an end, and Fiz wants Ty to sell the van to top up the fund so they can make....what was it? Headscarves for children? Everyone else seems to have forgotten as well: Roy suggests sharing out the money between Fiz's unemployed ex-co-workers. Selling the van is moot though because, as previously mentioned, Todd lit it up like a Christmas tree, setting fire to Aidan and Alya's materials as well. Roy inadvertently reveals the van scam to Izzy and Beth and there's big trouble in little Weatherfield. Beth accuses Fiz of stealing from them, Fiz attacks Beth, literally, with soil from Gail's garden. Post-scrap, Fiz and Tyrone agree that when they receive the van insurance money, they'll have some fun with it.
In other news, Angie confesses her post-natal depression to Jude, Dev buys the chippie and Chesney offers to manage it. Whither Mr Wong?! Bring back Yana, that's what I say. Chesney, somewhat oblivious to the fact that Joseph is traumatised and Sinead isn't really bonding with his son, goes off to meet Dev for a two hour meeting, relying on the free childcare from his girlfriend. It's 2017, Ches! Non-sexist division of labour!
And finally, Aidan is revealed to be a pocket-dumper. That doesn't surprise me.

I'm a bit glum too. Just reading post headlines- cancer, car crash (yet another!), debt, more relationship conflict etc etc. Just Cathy and Yasmeen's conversation about Aiden, and Fizz and Beth's plant fight provided any humour in last night's episode.
ReplyDeleteI thought Summer was a bit obnoxious, telling and adult to ' shut your face' was a step too far for me.
ReplyDeleteWhen are Corrie writers going to get over their obsession with women fighting. Fizz and Beth's scrap was not funny just cringeworthy.
