5 Things Coronation Street is Not

My personal two pennorth of thoughts about Coronation Street right now...

Coronation Street is not Eastenders
Please stop with the darkness.

Coronation Street is not Casualty
Please stop with the hospital scenes.

Coronation Street is not Social Media
Please stop creating storylines that pander to those shouting loudest on Twitter

Coronation Street is not a vehicle for actors to add to their CV
Vic Reeves is fantastic, Jim Moir is a quality actor. But in Corrie he Just Didn't Work.

Coronation Street is not a children's teatime show
Use the word 'testicle', please.

  1. it is also not: Heartbeat - please stop these endless scenes of the stupid constabulary looking at each meaningfully when taking statements.

It is also not: Line of Duty - please stop giving us after the watershed thrillers.

It is also not: a 1970's sitcom - please desist from storylines where Terry & June reincarnate into Brian & Cathy and Colin & Moira. Some of us have weak stomachs. For overseas fans, think: 'Honey, I'm home!'.

    That'll do for now.

    1. When Moo-ra and Jim started playing with each other’s hair in the Kanin, I was in tears of laughter it was so cringeworthy. I loved it!

  4. Coronation street is not people being arrested and interrogated in the police cells every second episode

Coronation Street is not riddled with massive plot holes such as Aiden's massive credit card that could buy wedding dresses, cars .. without the bank complaining

Coronation Street is not Pat Phelan

  5. Great blog post, Flaming Nora! Totally agree. Also like your follow-up post for what Corrie is.

Sure hope the right people read these. Next time they hire writers and other vital staff, try some older folk, who know not just the history of Corrie, which is well-recorded, but also the historical feel, ambience and emotional impact of the show.

Indeed, get off social media for a few hours a day. It's being proven lately how unhealthy it is, not just personally, but also societally. I think it's starting to ruin Corrie's heart.
