Confirmed: Rita's brain tumour diagnosis
In this week's Inside Soap magazine there's an article about how Coronation Street fans have rallied to Save Rita after the rumour appeared in The Sun saying she was going to be killed off.
Well, the rumour in The Sun remains just that for the moment - a rumour.
But, sadly, what can be confirmed today is that Rita will indeed be diagnosed with a brain tumour.
Inside Soap magazine say that this has been confirmed by soaps queen Sharon Marshall on ITV's This Morning show.
However, Corrie bosses are remaining tight-lipped on whether Rita is destined for The Kabin in the sky.

There are several possible outcomes. Rita can do nothing and let nature take its course; she can have the operation and die during the process; she has the operation and it's a partial success; she has the operation and it's a 100% success. Given the ages of the actress and the character, the last option is the least likely one that the writers will pick. I'd love to see a two-hander with Rita and Jenny, putting their squabbles aside and having a tearful heart-to-heart before Rita gently passes away. Worthy of a couple of TV awards.
ReplyDeleteWhatever happens, the main factor in it we don't know, which is whether Barbara wants to actually leave. I'm sure there's no way Kate Oates would willing just get rid of her, only time will tell on what happens.
ReplyDeleteAussie Pete, I completely agree! Everyone is getting all worked up about the possibility of Rita dying. At the end of the day, we don't know the truth.
ReplyDeletePersonally, my feelings are that Barbara Knox wants to retire and if that is the case, she certainly deserves a dignified send-off.
Ted, husband #2 died of a brain tumour didn't he?
ReplyDeleteI would miss Rita, no doubt about that, but a dramatic ending is worthy of her.
