Video: Bev Callard Teases Bipolar Corrie Story

Bev Callard, who plays Liz McDonald in Coronation Street, was interviewed on ITV's This Morning programme this week.  She talked about her enduring battle against depression. She says that at the worst of her depression, she had to pull out of two jobs and she knows now that those companies would never employ her again in the future.

Beverley ‘crashed’ with severe clinical depression in 2009 while on the Coronation Street set, and at her lowest point even considered taking her own life.

Eight years later and Beverley is now firmly on the road to recovery after overcoming her demons to lead a ‘happy and healthy’ life.

She said that as far as Corrie storylines go, they may look in the future at medical stories "with bipolar, or whatever".  I wonder if this means we might see Gina undergo the suffering of her condition as it worsens?

I was very happy to hear Bev say that she is feeling a great deal better than she has been in the past. I wish her all the very best and applaud her bravery in coming forward to keep depression and mental health news in the headlines.

You can watch the video interview here.

In Weatherfield, Liz is about to become embroiled in a scam. You can read more on that here.

  1. I hope we don't see more of Gina. She's another character that is just not working for me.She hasn't added anything to the Sally/Tim family. They're trying to make her interesting, but it it's not happening.

  2. I also agree. Gina turned out to be a goofy idiot that adds nothing to the program.
