Coronation Street writer Debbie Oates has written a new production of  Treasure Island which you can see this summer.

If features Jem Hawkins, a girl with a plan to escape her troubles, travel the world and make a new life for herself.  It is showing at The Dukes theatre in Lancaster.

Debbie has been penning Coronation Street scripts for 15 years. She originally adapted the story for a Christmas show in 2012 and adapted A Christmas Carol for the theatre in 2013. She also adapted Oliver Twist for The Dukes 2015 park show and premiered her new play The Ockerbys on Ice at The Dukes last autumn.

For tickets and further information telephone The Dukes box office on 01524-598500 or visit www.dukes-lancaster.org.

“Corrie is a lovely job,” Debbie said back in 2012. “Often writing is lonely so it gives me chance to work collaboratively. The writers meet up every three weeks to devise storylines, it’s really creative and exciting. I can’t imagine working on any other soap. It’s amazing to hear Rita open her mouth and say something I’ve written.”
