There was a lovely bit of action in Coronation Street on Monday this week when Pat Phelan was in Liverpool with Nicola and Seb. It was good to see Phelan in his home town of Liverpool, for a start, as this helps to give us more background on the character that we all love to hate.
But also, the music that was playing as Phelan strolled around with Nicola, was one of my favourites.
It was an old Toots & The Maytals track called Pressure Drop. Now then, Corrie rarely puts music tracks against action so when they do, it has to mean something, right?
I wonder if Pressure Drop was there to suggest that pressure's building up on Phelan and it's going to drop down on him soon? With Nicola being revealed as his daughter soon in Corrie, maybe we'll see things happening there, and with young Seb too, who could so easily turn into a young Phelan, if he's not careful.
And just what was Phelan's black eye all about?

I have no inclination or desire to find out any background at all about this creep, I just wish he would go. I don't "love to hate him" I just hate him. Awful character. Get rid!
ReplyDeleteI'm the opposite - I'm not sure that I so much love to hate him as just plain love him!! I don't know what that says about me though!!
ReplyDeleteHere's the thing - it is hard to "hate" someone who is such a brilliant actor.
ReplyDeleteI love the actor's talent enough to want to see him cast again as a new character but I definitely hate Phelan and believe he has to go.
ReplyDeleteHe certainly is a love to hate character, mainly due to the skill of the actor. Interesting interpretation of the music :)
