British Soap Awards: Rob Mallard wins Best Newcomer

Rob Mallard, who plays Coronation Street's Daniel Osbourne, has won Best Newcomer at British Soap Awards 2017.

The awards show took place on Saturday 3 June at the Lowry theatre in Salford.

Accepting the award, Rob said: “I want to thank the Barlows, the whole cast but especially the Barlows as you’ve made a space for me.”

He thanked his mum, who was in the audience, then holding up his award, he addressed his boyfriend Daniel Brocklebank in the audience (who plas Billy the vicar Mayhew).

Rob said: “Even though this is fantastic, Dan you’re the best thing I’ve ever taken home!"
