Anne Nolan: In the mood for dancing - and Corrie

It's been confirmed that singer Anne Nolan has done a script reading for Coronation Street.

A spokesman for the ITV soap said: "As regularly happens when casting a serial drama like Coronation Street, actors come in for readings with no specific character in mind. Anne Nolan has been in to read for us but wasn’t seen for a particular role.”

Anne is one of the members of the group The Nolan sisters. The hit group, originally made up of Anne and her sisters, including Coleen, 52, and Linda, 58, were a big success in the 1970s and 1980s with hits including I’m In The Mood For Dancing.

Anne later pursued a solo singing career, releasing her debut album Just One Voice in 2011.

Anne told the Mirror: “I’ve been a huge fan of Coronation street since 1960, It’s such a big part of people’s lives. So I was delighted to be asked to do a reading for the soap, I was thrilled and very excited to have been asked.

"If a suitable role came up, I would jump at the opportunity. Who wouldn’t? To be part of such an iconic production would be fabulous.”
