Video: Shelley King on the dangers of stroke

Coronation Street actress Shelley King, who plays Yasmeen Nazir, joined ITV's Lorraine show for a chat on the sofa this week to share her support for Stroke Awareness Month.

Shelley's mother, a life-long Coronation Street fan, died after suffering a stroke 18 years ago, which meant she never got to see her daughter in action on the cobbles.

She also spoke about playing Yasmeen on Coronation Street and says she enjoys the humour and the drama of the show.

She says "Corrie is so theatrical. All the great dramatists will tell you that!" And she agreed with Lorraine who said that if Shakespeare were alive today, he'd be writing for Corrie. I also agree with this thought.
