Shayne Ward: "Sick of being a sex symbol"

Shayne Ward, who plays Coronation Street's Aidan Connor, says this week that he's sick of being thought of as a sex symbol.

In an interview with The Sun this week, Shayne talks about the pressure on actors to “get in shape”.

He said:  “I’d rather stick to keeping my shirt on. It would take a lot to get me to take my kit off now. I’m happy just being in the factory with my shirt on. I’m just not into that whole sixpack thing. I think there is so much pressure to get in shape nowadays. I am just happy doing what I’m doing.”

Shayne is now dad to his and girlfriend Sophie Austin's first child, Willow.

  2. No disrespect to Shayne but I don't find him sexy, he is quite attractive I just don't like his hairstyle.

  3. Let's be honest, he's adorable and no one is telling him to be a "sex symbol", but he certainly could hustle some shape.

  4. Glad to hear it because I do not find him sexy at all.... The man who plays his father is hotter in my opinion. :-)

  5. I had no idea he was a sex symbol. He certainly isn't one right now on Corrie.
I'd say that if you don't want to be one perhaps when the photographer suggests poses like the one used in the picture for this article, you refuse.

  6. Not to worry, time will take care of that real soon.

  7. Maricha, I was thinking the same thing. They also dress him in tight shirts unbuttoned. He doesn't do it for me but that's just me. I think people are far more sexy when they're not trying to be (or the producers are trying to push it)

    1. Tvor, now that you've pointed it out I can see that he's being shown as sexy but I agree that the sexiest people, both in life and fiction, don't try to be.

  8. I don't think that's something he'll have to worry about much. He's probably a very nice guy, but his clothes are always bursting at the seams, and he looks like he could use a shower and a shave. Sure some people find him attractive, sexy even....just not me.

  9. I remember when the guy who played Liam Connor said the same thing - shortly after he left the show.
