Martyn Hett Has Died in Manchester

Our hearts, prayers and thoughts go to Martyn Hett's family.  It has today been confirmed that Martyn died in the attack at Manchester Arena on Monday night.

Martyn was a huge Coronation Street fan and part of the online Corrie family of fans. He was 29 years old.

Martyn was the creator of "The Audrey Roberts Noise" videos on YouTube and also featured on TV when he had Deirdre Barlow tattooed on his leg.  He wrote for the Blog now and then, sharing his insights into his favourite characters.

When the time is right, we will celebrate Martyn's life here on the Coronation Street Blog.

For now, we leave you with thoughts from Martyn's soulmate Russell Hayward.

Have never even met the lovely Martyn, and my heart is breaking. I only know him from our Corrie blog, hearing of his great love of life & the joy he gave to the people around him. A warm hug of condolences to Martyn's dear Mum, Russell, and all those close to him.

  17. I'm in Australia and just a few days ago I watched the episode where Maria made the Audrey Roberts noise and laughed to myself, it was so subtle I had to rewind and check I'd heard it right. Genius!

I don't know the names of all the contributors but when I heard Martyn was a Corrie 'Superfan' I wondered if he was involved in this blog.

So much sadness for Martyn's mum (I saw the Twitter feed where he got people to buy his mum's craft), partner and all of you who knew him. He sounds like a really lovely person.

  18. Wasn't he the lad that made a video of himself cooking Deirdre's stuffed marrow? I remember seeing it and I think it was him. Superb! He will be missed.

Yes he was, Tvor! RT has a short piece on Martyn, which includes the stuffed marrow video. http://www.radiotimes.com/news/2017-05-24/coronation-street-superfan-and-tv-regular-named-as-the-latest-manchester-bomb-victim

I watched it again last night and giggled throughout. What a lovely young man he was.
