In next week's Coronation Street, we'll see Shona struggle with her decision whether to leave Weatherfield, or stay on the Street. You can read more on that here.
In real life, actor Julia Goulding, who plays Shona, has been interviewed in this week's Inside Soap magazine. She answers letters from fans and there's some lovely snippets.
Asked about her audition for Coronation Street, Julia says she was very nervous but very much wanted the role. "I channelled my inner Bet Lynch and wore a leopard-print leotard," she reveals.
She says she never nibbles any of the food in Roy's Rolls as "a lot of it is fake, like the bread and butter," and that she loves working with Jack P Shepherd (David Platt). "He's very funny but he's the utmost professional," she says.
Julia says that she would love to have a scene in the Kabin where she would buy some sweets from Rita.
Every week, Inside Soap magazine put fans questions to soap stars. Follow them on Facebook to find out who it will be next.

It might just be me but Shona's made zero impact and I can't really see her with David. He needs someone a bit crazy and Shona just seems too worn down for him. If they want to keep her on, Adam's a possibility because obviously young characters can't remain single for too long.
ReplyDeleteI agree. The character is just boring. I really hope they don't pair her with David. I just can't see him being with the mother of the person who killed Kylie. That would be too much and out of character. I really didn't see the need to bring in this character. She's like wallpaper.
ReplyDeleteI actually really like Shona. That doesn't mean I think she should be paired up with David. The actress playing her is capable of nuances which make Shona interesting and suggest there is more to her than we are currently seeing.
ReplyDeleteShe's done her bit to give us some idea of what Nathan has in store for Bethany but now it's time to go. No one needs Clayton's mother anywhere. The writers will inevitably use that as an excuse to have him return and ruin more lives. Phelan's overlong passage is bad enough, Corrie should explore more than the sordid side of life.
ReplyDeleteI like her and I think she'll be instrumental in helping to rescue Bethany once she realizes who Bethany's Nathan is. I suppose they will put her and David together but I wish they wouldn't, it would be too weird. Maybe she would make a nice partner for Steve now that Michelle has flown the coop.
ReplyDeleteI like her friendship with Gail. Once it was disclosed that she was Clayton's mother all thought of her being with David flew out the window. So if she stays fine, if she goes fine...we shall see.
ReplyDeleteI'm interested enough to find out more about Shona's character but agree that she hasn't been given enough screen time to make me vested in her yet.
ReplyDeleteI don't see her paired with David at all. There would have to be red-hot sizzling, fatalistic, chemistry to get over the obvious Kylie/Clayton hurdle. And I don't get even a spark as yet.
However, I could see her with Steve ...
Rapunzel....Yes!!!! Now that you mention it I can see it too. :-)
ReplyDeleteI also can't see the point of Shona, she's not a likeable character and the fact that she's that little toerag's mum makes it even worse.
ReplyDeleteI'd like her to go and never come back.
Rapunzel you took the worlds right out of my mouth, I was in the process of writing a blog post about just that!
