Steve's divorce papers from Michelle arrived last week and it looks like their divorce will motor on through with Michelle taking Steve for all that he's got.
But, Corrie fans, do YOU want them to split up forever, sign the decree absolute and get divorced? I'm not sure that I do.
Excuse me while I put my tin hat on here to deflect the barm cakes that will surely be flung in my direction - but I like Michelle, I really do. And I like Michelle and Steve together even more. I don't want to see these two get divorced. Steve will have to start again on some other poor woman, and heaven help us if he goes after Tracy (who might, or might not, be pregnant with Rob Donovan's child).
And what of Michelle? She's throwing herself at Robert for now, but what next?
I vote NAY in the McDonald divorce case. What say you all?

Yes....and for Michelle to move to Ireland.
ReplyDeleteYes,I want Steve and Michelle to get divorced as she's treated him terribly[verbally abusive, naggging, flirting with other men] throughout their marriage and he deserves someone better[Leanne perhaps after Nick leaves?].
ReplyDeleteIt's a shame that Michelle does get her way with the divorce settlement.
As for Robert,I almost pity him as in time Michelle will treat him as horribly as she's treated Steve.
Yay, I really never liked Steve and Michelle together.
ReplyDeleteMost definitely YAY! I wish Michelle would take Robert and move to Ireland. I cannot stand their smugness! Awful people. And what a cheek she's got!
ReplyDeleteI just don't want the pub to go to anyone else. Liz (and I suppose Steve)need to stay. Too important to mess with that. Can't stand Michelle, but don't care if she is with Steve or not - as long as they don't focus too much on her.
ReplyDeleteDivorce, leave the Street, take Robert to Ireland. Not going to happen.
ReplyDeleteBaby Oliver is ill, my own script says he'll need a blood transfusion. Guess what, he was Nick's all along (retcon if necessary), Steve and Michelle reunite. Boo! Nick leaves/dies, anyway. We're assuming Ben Price is leaving permanently but is that the case?
I think Price is leaving for good. He didn't mention any specific project he had to do like a play, only that he was going so there's no return date in sight.
DeleteYes, please!!!
ReplyDeleteShe has been sucking the life out of him for ages. She mocked his return to school for 1 single course, was dismissive of his depression even after diagnosis, wanted him to get a vasectomy lest she get pregnant even though he only had one child, ugh, I could go on and on.That couple is a nightmare and really devalued Steve's character terribly.
I've only ever liked Michelle as Carla's friend: she has no warmth or chemistry with anyone else.
Yes. I'd like to see her leave too. Her best times were before she got together with Steve, and while they were apart, but I just find her character totally unlikeable now.
ReplyDeleteYay...self centred character. Steve is a bit of a dope sometimes, but he is, essentially, a nice character. Michelle is not, her true colours surface when she can't have her own way. I don't like her at all.
ReplyDeleteYes, and let them divorce sooner rather than later. And leave the pub with Steve and Liz.
ReplyDeleteYes!!! Take Robert and move to Ireland, I cannot stand the woman!
ReplyDeleteI've never liked Michelle and I really don't like that they stuck Steve with her for so long. She has been emotionally abusive towards him for years. They should divorce, she should get nothing and the McDonald's should keep the Rover's.
ReplyDeleteYay
ReplyDeleteYes, divorce is for the best, they were not well suited at all.
ReplyDeleteI don't want Steve and Liz to lose the pub tho. Perhaps Erica could buy into it - that's the perfect solution. Erica can dump Dev and be happy as a single business woman at the Rovers :)
As others have said, yes Michele and Steve need to break up, they were never believable in the first place. And the pub needs to remain in the McDonald Family.
ReplyDeleteNo I like them together - they are a good partnership. Michelle should just accept the fact that Steve has got another child now and move back in. I know that sounds easy enough but she's treated Steve rather badly over this (smashing up the pub, humiliating Steve etc.) It wasn't Steve's fault that Leanne chose to keep the baby, however, he naturally loves his child and wants to have a part in his life. I'm sure Michelle and Steve can get through this.
ReplyDeleteI hope they divorce and Michelle leaves the show. I don't like the way she belittles Steve and never sees anyone's point of view except her own.
ReplyDeleteHell Yay! Divorce quickly so there is a better chance Michelle will leave the show. I have always disliked this character and now I despise her! She and Steve have never suited each other. She wants a man of sophistication, or drive, or whatever grit she can find. He needs someone who doesn't belittle him at every opportunity. They are well rid of each other!!
ReplyDeleteI do not like Steve and Michelle together. Right from the start she felt she was too good for him....remember her affair with the guy who cheated on her with Sean! lol
ReplyDeleteI love Steve, but with Michelle he is weak and ineffectual.
I would like to see him with someone else.
I would not miss Michelle if she left.
Jeanie (anon): don't like either of them much myself. But viewed objectively, can't understand why everyone seems to think Steve such a prize and Michelle such a dog's dinner. Neither he nor Michelle seem to have much going for them in the brains department but Michelle is gorgeous and does have integrity--turning down attractive men to stay true to her wedding vows. She also helped Steve through HIS depression despite the fact that he took them close to bankruptcy. By contrast, Steve is a constant whiner, sneak, and liar who has cheated on her twice and enlisted his friends to lie and cover up for him. Then, when Michelle needed HIM (her post-partum depression over the loss of her child) he put his needs first to claim "his" child--the one he wanted aborted and whom he has absolutely no right to. I understand why people find Michelle a bit of a joyless character, but I just don't understand why everyone thinks he's so great.
ReplyDeleteI doubt most people think Steve is a prize but no one deserves to be stuck with someone who thinks they're God's gift to humanity especially when they're very far from it.
DeleteI don't think Steve had a right to claim Oliver for Leanne and Nick's sakes, but really, Michelle was determined to make everyone miserable even if he hadn't. She had to be convinced to accept he was grieving too.
What did she have to complain about when he and Liz almost went bankrupt? She didn't bring a penny to their finances and didn't put anything towards the purchase of things like the pub. He's the one creditors were after and it wasn't anything she did that bailed them out either.
Yay. They never should have gotten back together post Becky. They weren't good before, and, for all the reasons cited above, plus her carrying on with Robert while they are still married and claiming she is due half of what is his because of his one night stand. This is going to sound heartless but I didn't even care that much when Ruari died because she is so detestable; and he was right to keep the Ollie secret because she was clearly in a fragile state.
ReplyDeleteSteve was great as pals with Andrea and Eileen and as a husband to Becky. Pairing with Michelle brings out his worst. Splitting them up is long overdue.
Steve needs a quest to his ex-wife, Michelle back, before Robert continues his power to keep Michelle as his romantic girlfriend & have Steve to get a new romantic girlfriend in Erica, Leanne, or a new female resident of Weatherfield.
ReplyDeleteA battle this time I think for Michelle's heart: Steve vs. Robert. I think Steve will come out on top over Robert. I hope Robert will not to be gaining momentum to be Michelle's latest girlfriend, and not to have Leanne to be Steve's latest girlfriend, for romance and business.
ReplyDeleteDivorce YES! But Michelle should not get what she was demanding!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't all that bothered by Michelle over the years. However I was disappointed with her demeaning Steve's return to College & her most recent behaviour is intolerable! She's was and is horrible.
Hate her with Robert and his declaration of love was nauseating to the extreme!
Keep the Rovers with the Macdonald's!!! Please!!!
Write a wonderful love story for Leanne and Steve.
