There's a story in today's Sun on Sunday that says Alison King has signed up to return to Coronation Street as Carla Connor.
Mr Curry Sauce tells The Sun on Sunday: “Carla is a hugely popular character with viewers, and Kate always felt it was a shame Ali left. So when the opportunity to talk to her came up, she was delighted. For a few months now they have been in secret talks and the word among the cast is that Ali has agreed.”
Alison King left the role as Carla last year.
The Sun says that spokeswomen for both Corrie and Alison King declined to comment. Digital Spy also say that an ITV spokesperson said that the story is merely speculation. Last December Alison King was spotted on the set of Coronation Street but ITV said that her visit as nothing more than a visit to see her old mates. So, is her return true or not? We'll have to wait and see.
You can read about the 10 years of Carla Connor on Coronation Street in the book: "The Little Book of Carla Connor. Available as a paperback and ebook here.

Oh, I really hope this is true. I love Carla, especially her friendship with Roy. She could easily fit back into Underworld, or maybe help to look after Johnny if he's diagnosed with something serious.
ReplyDeleteOh please let it be Carla and a storyline involving Rob (her brother that is, not Mr Preston Flowerpetal!).
ReplyDeleteHmmm. ITV aren't saying No, which might be telling.
ReplyDeleteHmmm. Not sure that I want to see Carla return, I was more than happy when she left!
ReplyDeleteI liked her and it does look like Underworld may need a new boss if Johnny has a chronic illness. However, this is like Peter's return: if she's back sober and to have great new storylines, it's wonderful news, but if it's to rehash the same old ones until she's fed up and leaves again, why bother?
ReplyDeleteCarla was ruined by the time she left. If she returned, she would have to be almost a new character with an entirely new storyline. Returners don't always work out; look what happened to Toyah and Dennis.
ReplyDeleteI was surprised to find that I haven't missed her at all. What Maricha and Humpty said really. I'd hate to see her feud with Tracy start again, or romances with unsuitable guys. She hasn't been gone long enough Imo.
ReplyDeleteMaybe she is coming back for nick??
ReplyDeleteOooo. Good point
DeleteAs the new name above the Rovers hopefully, she was going to buy it before to support Michelle so why not now, and would also be a nice rebuff to Peter and Toyah. Surely Michelle would be filling her in on what is going on offscreen.
ReplyDeleteI also have not missed Carla and in light of Claire King [Etica]leaving the show,I wonder if she was axed to make room for Carla to return?
ReplyDeleteAs mentioned in other comments, I don't want to see a rehash of Carla's dramas or her returning to justify yet more storylines for Michelle who along with the other Connors have been featured too much lately.
I loved strong Carla but if a year of fresh seaside air hasn't cleaned up the spineless drunk that she was over last 4 months on the street, nope, she can stay away. I would LUV if she were Nick's exit (leaving the door open for both characters), OR if she came to snag Michelle to help run her new venture (and laugh so hard at whatever Steve would be paying in alimony that he could keep it), OR if she and her spine were back permanently to help Johnny run the faktry because he Aidan can't pull his weight and he's not well; Jennie's fall from Queen of Knickers would be quick and spectacular.
