Jane Danson, who plays Leanne Battersby in Coronation Street, was interviewed on ITV's Lorraine show today.
Jane talked about the lastest Weatherfield baby drama following the dramatic revelation that Steve McDonald is the father of her child, baby Oliver. She hinted that Leanne's baby bombshell could be just the start of a whole host of explosions and shocks to come.
"It's the start of a new chapter, another big emotional journey for all the characters," she said.
Jane praised ITV for keeping the storyline secret without spoilers and says that this provoked a really good reaction from fans. I can only agree!
She also said that she and Kym Marsh (Michelle McDonald) love working with each other and it's a shame they'll not be working as much together because Leanne and Michelle are going to fall out.
A clip was shown from Friday night's episode to be shown tomorrow night. Leanne has the awful task of telling Simon what's going on. Poor kid, as if he hasn't been through enough!

The situation with Simon doesn't seem to make sense. He was with the Platt/Tilsley family when they were in the Bistro - he was shown getting his picture taken with them. Then a few minutes later when Steve made the confession he had mysteriously vanished. And apparently he knows nothing about the events that took place.

ReplyDeleteUgh, Oliver is, as far as anyone else is concerned, Simon's baby brother. Biologically speaking, Oliver is actually half brother to Simon's first cousin Amy but no blood relation to him. My head hurts.
ReplyDeleteSo. I am not convinced this baby is Steve's. I really believe it's Peter's baby. Leanne was in Portsmouth with simon until June 6, which makes it really possible.
ReplyDeleteNow that would be twist! Toyah would have an epic meltdown.
DeleteEither way, that kid didn't exactly win the father lottery. At least Steve sticks around though so I'm mildly hoping Oliver is his.
I absolutely LOVE Jane Danson so much xx
