Coronation Street spoiler: Who will Leanne register as the baby's dad?

In next week's Coronation Street Leanne takes baby Oliver to the register office to have his birth registered officially. But who will she put down as the dad?

In the pictures here we can see Steve with Leanne at the register office, but Nick's on the war path and determined to get there in time to put his name down as the dad.

Inside Soap magazine reveal that it's Simon who lets slip to Steve that Leanne and Nick are registering baby Oliver's birth together. But Nick storms off after an argument with Leanne and so Steve races to the register office instead.

Simon Gregson, who plays Steve McDonald, tells Inside Soap: "He bursts in (to the register office) and pleads with Leanne to put his name on the birth certificate.  This is important to him - he isn't thinking about the legsl rights, he just wants to do the right thing by his son."

Elsewhere next week - Michelle seduces Nick!

  1. I think since the truth is out, she should do the right thing and put Steve's name down even if it does put Nick's nose out of joint

    1. I don't know. It's the right thing for Steve, that's for sure but will it turn out to be best for the baby or Leanne?
I'd leave it blank.Nick is too bossy and Steve didn't want this baby until last week and no matter what he says now giving him parental rights before settling a lot of other issues could come back to bite Leanne even if we didn't know Nick was leaving in a few months.

  2. She shouldn't put Nick's name down, first because it's a lie and second because she knows full well he's a controlling, self-righteous asshole, even if she selectively forgets it from time to time. No kid should be saddled with a lie like that from the get go.

If she knows Steve is the father, and he wants to have his name there, then it should be registered that way. He might not be the best dad, but he clearly loves Amy and supports her after initially trying to pretend he wasn't her dad. There is no reason to think he wouldn't support this child as well. Just contrast him with Peter, and he comes off as Dad of the Year!!!!

Life is messy - it isn't always fair or what we want...but it's pretty clear to me in this case Steve's name should win out.

  3. Maybe I'm wrong here, but I should have thought that as the registration form Is an official, legal document, it would be an offence to lie on it. The 'Father Unknown' option exists for exactly that scenario, but as the Steve-shaped cat is well & truly out of the bag now, and he has been (very) publicly acknowledged as the daddy, putting Nick's name, or leaving ot blank, is hardly an option now.

    1. I doubt it's an offense. The possibility exists yet, really, how often would a woman truly have no idea who fathered her child?
It's just a way of saying, the man in question has no standing in our life since he isn't my spouse so no one needs his name.
