Corrie's baby bombshell: Interview with Simon Gregson

Simon Gregson, who plays Steve McDonald in Coronation Street, tells us what's next for Steve and Michelle after dropping the baby bombshell in Corrie tonight!

Is Steve going to regret telling the truth?
I think his only only regret will be the way it happened and the people that have been hurt because of his actions. Deep down he feels he has done the right thing by his son. He couldn’t live with the guilt any more and he just wanted to be honest and not have any more lies.

Does he think he can get Michelle back?
He loves Michelle and desperately wants to get her back but he realises just how difficult this is going to be when he and Liz find themselves locked out of the Rovers. Michelle tells him she wants a divorce and she wants to take him for half of everything. He has to call the police to get into his own pub - it is going to get very messy for him.

How does Steve get himself in these situations?
It is typical Steve, he doesn’t do anything by halves, he acts first and thinks later and that is why he always finds himself in the middle of a mess of his own making. He should have come clean at the very beginning about Leanne and then he might have had a chance of seeing things through with Michelle, but it’s too late now.

How would he feel if Michelle turned to Robert for comfort?
He would be devastated, he loves Michelle to bits and the thought of anyone else touching her would drive him wild.

  1. I thought Johnny's comment in the Rovers was a bit hypocritical! Wasn't he the guy that got Carla's mum pregnant and then carried on married life as normal?!

  2. I did NOT see this coming! I'm so glad they didn't drag it out for weeks and weeks!

    1. I was hoping they'd speed this up and Nick's departure made that likely but having it come so soon after the loss of Ruairi was a bit rushed.
It's as if Steve can't be shown grieving just because he knows he has a live baby around. Would he have admitted the truth anytime soon if his baby with Michelle had lived? I doubt it and no baby deserves to be a consolation prize.
