New love for Kate Connor in Coronation Street

After last night's win for Faye Brookes at the National Television Awards, she spoke to Digital Spy about what's next for her character Kate Connor in Coronation Street.

You can see the Corrie red carpet pics from the National Television Awards here.

Faye  revealed to Digital Spy that Kate will be moving on with a new partner soon.

"There's a new love interest for Kate Connor this year. Brand new," she teased. "It's not Sophie Webster, that's what I can say!"

Faye also let slip to Digital Spy that Corrie isn't bringing in a new actress to play Kate's love interest, which means her new romance will be with an existing character. I wonder who it'll be?

  1. Shona possibly or even Rosie - she's been filming a lot with Rosie recently.

  2. I think it could be Alya?

  3. Though we've not met her yet - Chloe?

  4. Where does it say we've not met her yet?

  5. I was going to say Sinead! Would explain the stagnation of her relationship with Chesney. But Shona seems like a safe bet, since she's the only existing character whose sexual orientation hasn't been established.

  6. I must say after looking at the pics from the awards ceremony, Luke is one good looking man. I really hope Corrie doesn't loose him - he is the only eye candy that we have left who can act and actually has a brain. Please keep him around.

  7. Well, Dean Fagan who plays Luke set up a theatre company with friends in 2015 and directed Pinter's The Caretaker, and he is also a DJ, so he clearly has ambitions beyond Corrie.

  9. Well, if we're going to throw Alya and Sinead's names out there - then let's also not assume Kate's new love will be female. Maybe she will fall for a man? ;)

  10. Maybe the cute Kate will fall for the gorgeous Luke?? Thereby really peeving Tracy off. Could be great fun. I could see him with Kate a whole lot more than with Tracy-Luv.

  11. Do not care whatsoever. Find the character incredibly annoying and immature would not miss her at all if she left. Nothing at all against the actress, it is the character she plays I cannot stand.

  12. The clue may be in the words 'Brand new'. Maybe it's the first time Kate has had a male partner. I've always thought that Alex should have been Aiden's younger brother. Would have made life much more interesting and entertaining at the factory. I don't think Kate has added much other than as a supporting character in the Carla/Johnny storyline. We certainly didn't need Caz.

  13. My first thought was, "Who?". Then I thought, "Uggghh, is she still here?" Now I'll guess Sophie (and they both leave the Street), or maybe Adam... he's got the silver tongue of a snake oil salesman.

  14. The article say's they are not bringing in a new actress so that imply's that the love interest will be an existing actress - female.

  15. She's not a lesbian in real life (the same as Soрhie and Caz) - so why shouldn't she have a 'straight' relationshiр?

  16. i think it will be chesney - only in a soaр can someone so ugly and so boring end uр with stunning girlfriends like katie and sinead - and now kate? :)

  17. "She's not a lesbian in real life (the same as Soрhie and Caz) - so why shouldn't she have a 'straight' relationshiр?"

    Because her character is gay?

Apart from the whole Maria/Marcus debacle Corrie has generally been pretty good in their portrayal of gay characters - generally by not really having it be an issue.

By that logic Todd should hook up with a female.

the actor who play's him isn't gay in real life.

  19. Aside from Shona, I can't think of anyone already on the Street that Kate could romance.

  20. It's not sinead because she gets with Daniel and gets pregnant with his baby , I think alya

  21. That's why I suggested it might be Alya.

It would explain the writer's decision to have her & Kate become flatmates which seemed to come out nowhere.

  22. For me (trying not to be homoрhobic, which i'm not) it must be difficult for bruno Langley to do the kissing scenes with the actors who рlay Billy and Marcus before him as they really are gay men - i think Bruno deserves all the awards he can be given, a sterling рerformance by him

    1. I doubt actors think about it. Once you're kissing someone you don't love it must not make any difference whether they're male, female, gay, straight, attractive or not at all your type in any way as long as they behave like professionals. It's all make-believe.

  25. Rosie, for a Webster sister love triangle. Perhaps Rosie is bi-curious.

    If not, then Cathy. ;-)

    1. Aiden's sister, Johnny's daughter. She's been involved with Caz and Sophie.
I keep forgetting who she is and every time she has scene it takes me a few seconds to remember.

  27. If we are not bothered by gay or straight, how about Sean?
