Liz McDonald needs a man like the Street needs its cobbles

Liz McDonald is not a woman who likes to be alone. She needs a fella, she wants a fella, even when they're no good for her.

She's currently spending far too much time obsessing over Leanne's baby in the back room of the Rovers. She's got too much time on her hands. She's thinking too much instead of snogging some bloke. Heavens, she's even taken to drinking in the afternoon while watching Loose Women on telly.

Liz needs something to do and someone to love. Come on Corrie, give Liz a fella. Put a smile on her face.  In fact, why not bring back one of her many lovers... Vernon? Lloyd?

Rumour time...
Charles Lawson, who plays Jim McDonald, has teased a possible return to the show! Read it here.

  1. Whatever happened to the grandad of Amy's school friend? The one Liz was pretending to be Amy's mum for? The whole plot line was dropped (in fact never resolved) when Bev Callard needed time off. Couldn't they pick that up again?
Personally I'd love to see Vernon back.

  2. Definitely not. For Liz's character to develop and stay interesting, she needs to be single. Her love stories are predictably about falling for the wrong man and never learning. How about a first for Corrie? The strong, independent (middle-aged) woman who has learnt to live on her own unless a miracle happens. Liz is an attractive woman who probably has her needs so she should be courted and feted by any number of men. Lots of comedy and drama to be had, and she wouldn't end up being one half of an inevitably dubious couple.

  3. That photo says everything you need to know about Liz's relationships with men. Although Jim's arms resting on her neck/head may look like she's the one he can "lean on", the reality is that she's being used as little more than a substitution for furniture. She's all about the imbalance in her relationships and it would be nice if they did something else with this character, to show she has interests in life beyond being a mommy, dressing like a whore, and getting involved with the wrong men.

  5. No. Please don't. So wrong. People on this blog are always complaining about story lines continually being re hashed. The Jim/Liz rollercoaster has been re hashed to death. So predictable and boring

  6. I love to see Jim make an appearance every few years, just for a short while. As long as Steve is in the street he has a good reason to visit without having to get back with Liz.

  7. Wish Jim'd go and visit Andy in Spain instead. This character passed his sell by date years ago. Really don't like him

As Louby said, Jim doesn't need to get back with Liz, I just want him back on the street where he belongs.....there are so few real MEN left in Corrie now. Love him!

    1. But he would though. That's what he does. He can't bear to see Liz with another guy. There's a comment on a post about about Alison King. Someone commented that they don't want her back as it would start repetitive storylines with Nick etc. What's the difference? Jim coming back is the most repetitive storyline ever and has been going on for decades. Jim a real man? More like a real bully?
