Gary Windass - most handsome man Coronation Street's ever had?

Regular readers (hello, mum) will know I'm a big fan of Gary Windass.  It's because I'm also a big fan of Mikey North. I met him once, on the Corrie set at the 50th anniversary party and he was as lovely as you'd imagine him to be.

Gary is one of my favourite characters and has been ever since he joined the Street in 2008. That's almost eight years of gorgeousness we've had on the cobbles.

I know our blogger Emma has a bit of a thing for Peter Barlow.  Our blogger Tvor (and I) once had a bit of a thing for Dennis Stringer and Charlie Whelan too.  Gary, of course, is far too young for me to ogle over but I do think he's by far the top of the Corrie man-totty and I'm more than happy to share my secret Corrie crush.

Which leads me to wonder - who's yours?

  1. Peter Barlow - his mode of dress, his sexiness, dark brooding looks...even when I've seen him on stage in Endgame where his mode of dress was sadly lacking, Chris Gascoyne certainly does it for me.

  2. Back in the 80s, when he was a regular character and hadn't yet morphed into a 2d, Pantomime villain, I used to fancy Terry Duckworth like crazy. More recently, I thought Tony Gordon was dead sexy and I swoon for Peter Barlow

  3. Peter Barlow, Tony Gordon, Aidan Turner (OK, not the last one, just my fantasy)are similar. The Heathcliffe figure which Wikipedia describes as: 'romantic hero whose all-consuming passions destroy both him and those around him'. That definitely describes Peter and Tony. Gary's good-looking in a knitting magazine sort of way.

  4. Peter Barlow was a crush but I think I'm over it now. I do think Tim is dishy. The character has his faults, but he's also willing to stand up to Sally and he's quite funny. I think the actor has a lovely sexy smile. I do think Johnny is also quite attractive, mind you.

  5. Ah yes, Johnny, he is attractive in an indefinable way. Add him to my short list...ha, ha Humpty, Aidan Turner is dishy too.

  6. Liam Connor for me, and I also got to watch him in all of the Downton series.
Gary is a nice looking lad - love the fact that he is so supportive of Pride!

  7. Peter Barlow is definitely sexy. Even though his character would stink of cigarette smoke and alcohol and I'm not a fan of his waistcoats and tattoos, his eyes and voice would blind me to his (numerous) shortcomings

  9. Jason Grimshaw is my favorite bit of Corrie eye candy. I miss ironing day at the Grimshaws.

  10. For me it's Maria's husband, Liam. I can also appreciate Peter Barlow's appeal and Luke is easy on the eye too.

  11. Mikey North - saw him "live" in Vancouver, and he is charm personified, not to mention gorgeous and funny.
Also Irish Kieran - miss him lots.

  12. Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis) outshines them all and was the most sexiest and handsomest man on the street. I miss him so very much.

  13. Gary to me is bleh and sort of a tool.

I agree with Ronidee that Rob was extremely sexy, I'll add in Peter and a bit of Beckys fella... Danny was it?

Also had a massive crush on Tony Gordon way back when

  14. Paul Connor! Honorary mention to Tony Gordon, Tim, Rob Donovan and Tony Stewart.

  15. Luke is the kind of guy I would have DIED to find when I was single (which makes Maria's treatment of him just that much harder to take)

  16. My Corrie crush is Roy. There have been lots of pretty faces, and he's handsome enough, but all the others have proven to be losers in some way or other.
Anyone can look stylish within hours with a makeover but you can't fill their head with knowledge and their heart with compassion.

  17. Chris Collins was gorgeous. More recently, Peter, Rob and Tony Stuart. I did quite like Tommy too. Gary seems to have become more attractive since he's been doing nice things.

  18. In all the years I have watched Corrie I've never had a crush til Tim, very attractive, and I think Joe Duttine is a great actor (I also had a huge crush on his uncle, John Duttine, back in the early 80s, and he was still very handsome in Heartbeat all those years later *swoon*).
Johnny Connor is a handsome guy, as is Ian Kelsey as Vinnie.
I once saw Peter Barlow outside Withington Baths when I lived in Manchester - attractive guy, not very tall I seem to remember!
Mind you, when I lived in Manchester I saw quite a few Corrie people either in town or in the Sainsburys near the old studio - Gail, Janice and Sally all were really petite, and Rita looked as glam as ever.

    1. I didn't realise that John Duttine was his uncle. I swooned over him over 30 years ago in "To Serve them all my days".

  19. Great article, but not very balanced! Where are the guys or girls to tell us which Corrie women are their favourites? My hubby used to like Kelly Crabtree.

  20. Peter Barlow and Rob Donovan did it for me. Both men are gorgeous.

But my greatest adoration...wait for it...is for Steve MacDonald. I adore him, goofiness and all. Too bad he's being such a turd of late, but I am madly in love with him, even if he's nearly 10 years younger than me.

Tim Metcalfe is also a cutie.

  21. Hi Sophie,
Yes, To Serve Them All My Days! I was about 12 and John Duttine (and Sam Neill in Reilly, Ace of Spies) were the loves of me life! :D
