Alison King, who left Coronation Street as Carla Connor earlier this year, says that she has no work lined up at the moment, reports The Daily Star.
She joked that she might join the circus, too.
She said: "I’ve got no new acting projects in the pipeline. I may actually leave acting behind and join the circus."
Alison is now the virtual tour guide at Coronation Street on Tour at the Glasgow SECC. You can read our review of Corrie on Tour here.
Relive all of Carla's 10 year on the cobbles in one lovely little book - Carla Connor, a Decade in the Life of a Soap Queen.

That's a pity: she's a good actress. Still, in a career that has something like 90% unemployment, why leave an acting job with an interesting storyline unless you have something lined up? Her departure has meant Nick was available to meddle in Leanne's life again, when I was looking forward to new plots not recycled ones.
ReplyDeleteWhat's the betting she'll be back not long after Peter?
ReplyDeleteAll guesswork but Chris Gascoyne may have been offered a flexible and lucrative deal to come back. It can't be long before he's the senior Barlow. Carla is different as she doesn't come from a long-standing dynasty. Alison King may have left Corrie because she feared she would be typecast. She is nothing like her character whereas Chris G has said the line between him and Peter is slim. Alison may go to America and try films to get away from Carla. I would be very sorry to see her back as it would signal repetitive storylines with Peter, Nick and Robert.
ReplyDeleteI hate to say it but Alison is already quite typecast. Although I think her main reason for leaving Corrie is too spend time with her daughter so I don't think she's too bothered at the moment about lack of work.
ReplyDeleteI interviewed Alison King a few months ago, after she had filmed her final episodes. She expressed how keen she was to spend time with her young child, who she felt had not had enough attention from her mum.
ReplyDeleteShe's probably enjoying the break after so many dramatic storylines over the past few years.
ReplyDeleteI don't blame the woman one bit. After the intense schedule she had at CS, she was probably exhausted.
ReplyDeleteI tried to post this yesterday, but find it impossible to post via Iphone.
