Revealed: Who's getting killed off in Coronation Street!

Last week we blogged that a well-loved character was being killed off in Coronation Street.  The blog post was inspired by Samia Ghadie's words in her own blog for OK magazine.

Samia said: "...  this week I've been recording some of THE saddest scenes I've ever done in my 17 years at Corrie.  When I first read the scripts I was in tears so getting to film them has just sent me off.  You may need your tissues when they air.

Well, a Corrie source today tells The Sun that the 'well-loved character' that's being killed off is...

...Ozzy the dog.

Well-loved?

Samia Ghadie recently admitted in an interview that she "Has no idea where Ozzy is"

Ah well, at least it's not Emily, that's all I can say.  Might there... could there be a chance we'll see her return from Peru after all?

  1. Well that was an anti-climax. We haven't even seen Ozzy for years!

  2. DON'T tell me you don't have the MONEY to feed the POOR DOG.

    I WOULD TRADE for BILLY

  3. Is he still alive? Zzzzzz

  4. It's easy to say this now, but Ozzie did cross my mind...but she went on to say 'well loved' which I thought to mean that it was a long standing iconic character.
Poor Ozzie, but I'm relieved it's not Emily!

  5. Sad state of affairs when the only well loved character left on the show is a dog.

  6. well I'm not sure about Ozzy, but I much prefer Rover than Steve!!!
    Bring on the Corrie animals.

  7. Yes! Let's keep Rover and Ozzy and get rid of Steve and Maria :-)

  8. Where Samia said it was one of the saddest scenes she had to film, I reckoned if it wasn't Audrey that was dying, or her child, then it had to be the dog. Maria is definitely a dog person, growing up with them as well. And it's the last link to Liam, too.

  9. Is the dog going to live in real life? Or does he have to be put to sleep & this is how they decided to handle that in the show?

  10. I'm pretty sure it's just the character, not the dog who plays him -- there were probably multiple Ozzy actors anyway, plus it's not like one rarely-seen black Lab is so different from another rarely-seen black Lab.

  11. Seriously, well-loved? We haven't even seen him in ages. I thought he must have run away years ago. Now, Schmeichel was well-loved, as probably is Eccles. But Ozzie? Give me a break.

  12. Oh no. One of the best actors in it.

  13. Last link to Liam? But what about her son?

  14. Pathetic !!

Actually, Ozzy has informed the bosses that he wants to pursue other avenues and explore other options in his career. He's enjoyed his time on this iconic national program, but it's time to leave before he becomes too typecast. Since TPTB are notorious for not being tolerant of actors wanting to leave, they've decided to kill his character off so he can never return.

  15. Ozzy's exit story will be explosive and shocking. He will have a surprise one-night-stand with an iconic character, causing Tracy to spew her venom at him. Ozzy will be in a life or death at Wethy General with the entire street praying for his recovery.

  16. A question for Anonymous at 16:02. Aren't all the current canine characters on the show male? Are you suggesting a gay relationship?

  17. I thought Rover was actually female, even though Steve chose that name (usually given to males). Why would Tracy care if Rover had a fling with Ozzy?

It occurs to me: is it possible the writers are attempting to make a comparison between the men on the program (e.g. currently Steve and Aidan) and dogs?

  18. Why are their so few dogs on the street? we could have a dog walkers club, endless stories could come from that

  19. Especially since it would be natural, with Maria and Kirk being children of people who ran a kennel (I think that's what it was).
