Peter Barlow returning to Coronation Street

At the Coronation Street press day yesterday, producer Kate Oates confirmed that Peter Barlow will be returning to the show.  Our blogger Emma was so excited when she heard this she almost fell off her chair!

Chris Gascoyne will reprise the role as Peter.

Peter will be joined by his half-brother, Daniel Osbourne, and Ken’s grandson Adam Barlow.

    Pleased about this, but I hope they will move the character on a bit - no getting back with Leanne (Toyah maybe?!) and let him manage his drink. I'd like to see new directions for Peter, all be it with a finger not far from his self destruct button!

    Really good news and I might start watching regularly again. Stuart B was applauded for getting rid of Stella and bringing back Liz, so Kate Oates will get her round of applause for this. I wonder if Tracy is on the way out, fed up with so many male Barlows in the house. Never mind his love affairs, I wonder if Peter will reclaim the bookies shop which would put an end to the florists. Another reason for Tracy to leave, at least for a while.

    Well we all knew that Chris/Peter would be returning - just took a little longer than expected. :)

    Also, if I understand it correctly, Carla will return after a soujourn but probably not yet awhile.

    Looking forward to see where they will take him.

    I'm still gutted Michael/Les Dennis is leaving but c'est la vie.

    He will probably be groomed to be the elder Barlow once Ken's character eventually retires or dies. Time for the next generation of characters to take over and for the older characters to retire.

    So who is Adam Barlow's father? Peter or someone else? Just says Ken is his grandfather. If it's Peter, then they'll probably have Simon all sorts of jealous if Peter spends more time & attention on Adam.
