Helen Flanagan has told The Sun newspaper this week that she would love to go back to Coronation Street as Rosie Webster. Her quote is as follows:
"I would absolutely love to go back to Coronation Street one day but it would have to work around Matilda," she told The Sun. (Matilda is Helen Flanagan's little girl).
The Mirror reports Mr Curry Sauce saying this recently about the new Corrie producer Kate Oates: "Kate was going on about how excited she was to join the cast and crew in January and saying she couldn't wait to get her teeth into the show ... [she wants a return for] Rosie."
Yay or Nay - would you like a return for Rosie Webster? I say yes. With the exit of her on-screen sister Sophie Webster when actress Brooke Vincent takes leave to star in a stage show (read about that here), it could be a good time for her to return.

I read that Helen was trying to get onto the next "Celebrity" Big Brother.
ReplyDeleteI would like to see Rosie return, only if she was attending Sophie's funeral.
Oh, please no! The tabloids have finally tired of reporting her every move, and she's only saying this because, presumably, she wants to get back in the limelight and dare I say it, needs the money.
ReplyDeleteHahaha! There's a few other pointlessv characters whose funerals I wouldn't mind seeing as well. But I have had enough of the Websters ----all of them: Sophie, Sally , Kevin... The lot of them are incredibly boring and have remained stagnant and cardboardish as characters.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely not. Sophie is only on a very short break (unfortunately)and it would be awful to have them both. If Rosie returned from London, she'd be another Todd with a failed career behind her, determined to make trouble for her family. Recycle, recycle.
ReplyDeleteYes please! The character was hilarious. Sally tried so hard to give Rosie an education but she was as shallow as a bird bath. She rounds out the whole Webster clan and make give Sophie some spark too.

ReplyDeletePlease NO!!!
Nope. But if she could be swapped for the irritating, irrelevant boreathon that is Sophie it might be tempting!
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't mind seeing her on Corrie again, if just for a short stint.

ReplyDeleteNo no, a thousand times no. Terrible actress, wish Sophie would go and stay with her, where ever she is.
Absolutely NO! There is no place for her on the street whatsoever. We already have enough airheads on the show. Let me guess if she comes back she'll be either working in the factory or the Rover's and then proceed to seduce half the men on the street. I personally have had my fill of the Webster's last thing we need is another one.
ReplyDeleteSoрhie is going to be away from the show for a short time, then she'll return but only till February 2017 when her contract exрires - we can only hoрe that will be the end of her! :)
ReplyDeleteAs for Rosie, she has two good рoints :)
ReplyDeleteI loved Rosie as a character! As I started watching around 1999 at 12 years old I kinda "grew" up with Sarah, Candice, the Grimshaw boys, and Rosie. I was so happy when Sarah came back and I would be just as happy if Rosie came back too!
ReplyDeleteNAY! NAY! NAY!
ReplyDeleteOh my good grief - please NO!!
ReplyDeleteI'll add my no to the list as well. But a very short appearance might work - we often comment about the lack of continuity so a visit to her parents would be a"normal" thing to do, although no doubt she would have to have some secret she's running away from.
ReplyDeleteI could see a potential story that has Rosie move back with need for some counseling and general head-straightening -- maybe to get out of, say, the sex trade, and Sophie trying a bit over-zealously to persuade Rosie that the church is the answer. However, I am not so sure I would want Helen Flanagan for the Rosie role anymore ... she has run her course.
ReplyDeleteGood grief, no! I wish Sophie would go and live with her.
ReplyDeleteBonnie in Canada
Good dog no!!! One of the worst cases of art imitating life. Keep her off the cobbles pleeeeeeaaaaaassssssse.
ReplyDeleteNo, non, nyet, NEVER!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely not. I could not stand the way she pursed her fat lips. Her acting ability is non existent. If she comes back I will probably stop watching Coronation Street.
ReplyDeleteI always preferred Rosie to Sophie, neither are brilliant actresses but Helen's portrayal was amusing somehow. I agree with the comment about Kevin being boring, could never care less about his character.
ReplyDeleteShe resembles Sarah Platt a bit too much as well as Bethany. May not be enough stories to go around for essentially the same character with different names.
ReplyDeleteI would love to see Rosie return for a short time. I would always love to see actors returning for a short story-line. I have always found it weird that even actors leave the Street, they never return to visit friends and family and especially funerals. It's nice to see old faces return.
ReplyDeleteI'd be more than happy to see Rosie return. She was always one of my favourites. But I'm assuming her career in London is going well, otherwise she'd have been back by now so I'm not sure what her reason to return would be. She wouldn't just drop her whole career without good reason.
ReplyDeleteBeing from NZ, I really don't know much about the actors' outside lives (unless they are involved in something dramatic like births, deaths or criminal charges). I get the general idea that some, like Kym Marsh, Helen Flanagan and the young woman who played Tina (forget her name) are quite fond of the media. But not being exposed to that, I can only judge them on their characters, the story-lines and their acting abilities.
ReplyDeleteI take the point made above that Helen Flanagan and Rosie Webster may as well be the same person (so no real acting necessary) but this only serves to make the character more real. And, as noted above, I used to find her shallowness and total lack of self awareness hilarious.
That said, regular short appearances would do just as well. Rosie is a Webster, was born on the street and should still feature at least from time-to-time.
She might be fun... As long as she does NOT have an affair with Tim or Tyrone. New barmaid then?
ReplyDeleteDefinitely!
ReplyDeleteShe and Craig (her old boyfriend) should return at the same time and get back together.
God no! She couldn't be bothered to come back for her own mother's wedding to Tim, what would bring her back now???
