Here's Lily Platt in October 2015.
Clearly, it's a different actress. Blond Lily was played by twins Bessie and Emma Taylor. In the credits for last night's episode, Lily Platt wasn't given a mention.
Not only is it a different actress, and I know I'm no expert on kids and how fast they grow, but Lily is supposed to be only two years old! She'll be three in August. Corriepedia list her birthdate as August 26, 2013.
By 'eck, they grow up quick in Weatherfield.

Recently in Canada,Lily was shown running to her mother scared after Tyrone accidently crashed into the annexe and she was portrayed as a two year old.
ReplyDeleteThe little girl in the picture looks about five or six.
I hope the producers aren't taking American soaps'bad habit of aging children too quickly beyond belief otherwise in a few weeks time,Lily and Max will be teenagers or punters in the Rovers.
I noticed how she'd grown too!
ReplyDeleteI couldn't believe that was supposed to be Lily, Does continuity not come into it at all when it comes to kids? One minute a little two year old with short blond hair, and the next a five year old with long dark hair. Maybe she is facing a storyline that the younger child (children) couldn't handle regarding Kylie's exit, but surely they could have found one that looked as if she was at least related to the old one!
ReplyDeleteI understand that they need to replace actors who play children at some point due to the fact that they should be interacting with the family, but they could have at least casted a child who looks 3 years old, I don't necessarily care about the hair color or length, but there is no way that this child could pass as a 2 1/2 almost 3 year old, this is what annoys me. Also how hard is it to find a child at the appropriate age to play a child of the same age, its like Bethany Platt all over again. I just hope Corrie knows what they are doing. P.S. If they changed the actor who plays Lily to this, there gonna have to recast Ruby (Tyrone's daughter) too because last time I saw her she looked way younger than this new Lily and she's suppose to be a year older in the show, hope they fix it.
ReplyDeleteBy next year she'll be 18, a slapper and trying to get Billy into bed for a bet.
ReplyDeleteI am still trying to get over how quickly Jack aged...one minute a toddler and now about 8 LOL
ReplyDeleteThe new Jack is apparently exactly the correct age for the character. I think the boy who played him before was particularly small for his age, so it felt jarring.
DeleteI love new Lilly's hair! She's a keeper.
ReplyDeleteOnly if the hair can act!
DeleteOh, this kid was acting. The lights were on...you can tell.

They loved their time on corrie, and it was a shame she was recast but the producers needed someone older my god daughters are very close in age to what lily would be really 2 nearly 3 and things like the night shoot/car crash was scary for them and they wanted an older child actress who could act. On certain days like when we filmed Harry's christening they weren't too well and didn't like being on location so cried and so they've aged her up a little so she can deliver lines/follow instructions!
It's common enough for older kids to play down (younger) as they have a wider frame of reference to draw on, but a pity they couldn't find one who looked - well, smaller!
DeleteAnd poor Jack was left as a toddler for far too long! I just hope this doesn't mean they are suddenly going to turn Simon and Amy into 20 somethings...

ReplyDeleteSome of we older watchers remember when Tracey Barlow was sent to her room by her mother as a blonde with pigtails, to re-emerge a year later as a brunette. Soapland is wonderful - and we love it.
