Metro's soaps writer Duncan Lindsay has been talking exclusively to Dolly Rose Campbell, who plays Gemma Winter in Coronation Street.
Gemma seems to be one of those characters who divides fans. I love her and really enjoy watching Dolly-Rose on screen, but I know not all fans feel the same way.
Dolly-Rose tells Metro: "It was great to hear that Gemma was being brought back, I was very pleased. People really seem to love Gemma and that feels really nice to have that response to the work that I’ve been doing."
Asked if she's looking forward to the big Callum reveal when his body will be found under the grannexe, she says: "Yeah, of course I’m excited to see what will happen. Gemma has no reason to suspect that anything bad has happened to Callum. She keeps expecting him to come back into her life."
It's a good interview and you can read it here.

It is true that not everyone loves Gemma - I absolutely loathe her, horrible trappy character.
ReplyDeleteI didn't like her at first, gobby mare that she was. But soon, Dolly-Rose brought out Gemma's inner wistfulness. The brash mouthy bint is a front, I think she's been neglected, possibly abused. She's changed since Callum disappeared, her look has been softened, she's out there in the real world. I hope she's around for a long time, there's lots of character development that could take place.
ReplyDeleteGreat to see Dolly-Rose (LOVE that name) back on the cobbles...hopefully she will be given a permanent spot!
ReplyDeleteI'm a big fan of Gemma and enjoy the humour she brings to the programme. Underneath all the swagger, however, Gemma is lost and lonely. I hope she stays!
ReplyDeleteAnonymous 14:11, I agree completely.
ReplyDeleteBonnie from the Cariboo
The street has had a chav girl for years. Kylie is leaving, so someone needs to fill the role. Gemma is kinda spunky and fun, and pairing her with lumpy vanilla Chesney should be interesting unto itself.
