We've already blogged about an upcoming storyline in Corrie in which mystery girl, Marta appears.
And to add further drama to the mix, there's a slavery storyline unfolding too, all connected to Martha.
The Mirror reveals that Polish teenager Marta is discovered hiding in the Underworld factory and it emerges she is being kept as an unpaid worker by Richie and Julia O’Driscoll.
Marta is played by Edyta Budnik. Find out more about her here.

Slavery - oooh, I don't think that's a topic they've dug into before have they? (Correct me if I'm wrong)
ReplyDeleteIt certainly does sound interesting, and it sounds like Underworld is about to lose the O'Driscoll's business if I may be allowed to make a prediction!
Corrie has touched on it slightly before - when Carla joined her husband, Paul, at the factory, she wanted to start a line of children's clothing besides the underwear so they forced some Russian machinists to work double time, off the clock and unfortunately one young lady fell down the stairs exhausted and Carla & Paul hid her death until the following morning so they wouldn't get into trouble by forcing their employees to work double shifts.
ReplyDeleteYes but they were illegal workers, being paid, that's the difference.
ReplyDeleteI think they were Рolish also (wiki and katia)
ReplyDeleteYes, I also thought they were Polish as well.
ReplyDeleteThat's something Carla never received justice for, or even had much regret for, despite being directly responsible. Her main concern was whether they would get caught.
When people complain about Tracy getting away with murder, they need to remember she's not the only one who has escaped justice.
I dunno, given what Carla's life has been like, I think Karma found it's mark.
