Paula will be at the centre of a storyline which
will be on screen this summer. She will finish filming as she goes on
maternity leave in June.
She notified ITV of her intention to leave the show a few weeks ago, the producers and writing team discussed her exit at the story conference and came up with an exciting storyline for her departure which will coincide with the timing of her maternity leave.
Writers and storyliners are now working on the details of her dramatic exit which will focus on the climax of the storyline which saw Callum Logan murdered and buried under Gail’s granny flat in the live episode last September.

What a shame. Paula Lane is a good actress and the Kylie character has grown on me over the years. I suppose she gets sent down for killing Callum and hiding the body. If only they'd called the police at the time, she'd have got away with self defense and saving her sister - in - law's life. But good luck to Paula in whatever she does next.
ReplyDeleteIt would be brilliant if she left by running away to Barbados (is that where Becky went?), escaping capture. I still think that Jason and/or Tony will get the blame for the murder. It will be interesting to see how they finally wrap it up.
ReplyDeleteMuch as I like Paula Lane, I do hope this is the last time that we see Kylie. I wonder if she will go down because surely that would involve David and Sarah, guilty of various charges if not the main one of manslaughter. It would only take Jack P Shepherd wanting to leave Corrie to try other projects for the storyline to develop with David, Kylie and the children going on the run.
ReplyDeleteIt's too bad, because she's such a great actress and I've loved Kylie. I know Paula will do really well. It's kind of a no brainer now, though, Kylie will be off to prison I expect. She won't want David to take the blame nor will she let Sarah, a new mum, go either.
ReplyDeleteso that's the end to all the speculation that has swirled around for ages. A few people left comments that said she was leaving so stands to reason she will take the blame - actually a no brainer there. I'll be sad to see her go, but I'm sure she will do well when she leaves the street. I will be glad for no more hissy fits between her/David/Sarah/Bethany. Will Sarah & Bethany leave the street also - that would be really good.
ReplyDeleteIf she only notified them a few weeks ago, then I imagine they'd have already written the whole finding Callum's body/someone going down for his murder (I always assumed it would be Tony since he was leaving the show.) I wonder if they are changing it, or if someone will go down for the murder but eventually she will be found out.
ReplyDeleteI kind of hope that it is a storyline where she goes on her own and David keeps the kids. Because for as much as I've never cared for him over the years, I've always liked him as a dad. It would be sad to see another child leave with one parent a la Katy, Chesney, and Joseph.
I hate to say I told you so ..............
ReplyDeleteIf Kylie is convicted, will she have done the decent thing by not taking David and Sarah down with her. They are guilty of 'failing to bury a body ... perverting the course of justice ...' or similar. Perhaps Jack PS will also leave (for a while) in which case that could mean the young Platts vanish off the face of Weatherfield. Good luck to Paula Lane.
ReplyDeleteNot another good actress leaving!
ReplyDeleteWith the amount of actors either leaving or taking extended breaks, I think Kate Oates would be justified in bringing in a whole bunch of new characters.
ReplyDeleteAs for Kylie. Well...who knows? Realistic stories haven't exactly been the norm lately. She could end up being killed off sensationally, or Callum is still going to turn up alive. Whatever happens, I hope it doesn't come down to Kylie abandoning Max. There's way too much of that on Corrie.
Sarah returned to Weatherfield intent on causing trouble for her brother hence her dating Callum so keeping in mind how she used Kylie's phone to lure Callum to the house, she'll frame Kylie and maybe David for Callum's murder, their children in foster care while she and Bethany takes over the house.
ReplyDeleteI'm also disappointed in Paula Lane leaving as until now she and David were the only Platts who remained married for more than a few months/
Hopefully they will leave the door open for her to come back.
ReplyDeleteThis is terrible news - she is a *stellar* actress and certainly added the missing element to the Platt family some 6 years ago..... David became an excellent Dad and the *buzz* between them was always exciting..... I wonder IF she takes both kids....or does David become a single dad with 2 children?? Sad....sad.....
ReplyDeleteI have never cared for the Kylie character, however having said that - Paula Lane is an excellent actress and will go far in her career. I completely understand why she would want to leave - what would be ahead for her character continue living with boring David and his idiotic mother? I am assuming she will be send down for murder and David will continue living with his mother, working in his Gran's salon and hook up with whoever lives on the street will have him. What a catch not!
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear she is leaving, but not sorry to hear it will finally be the end of this storyline. Maybe we'll get a break from the Platt family?
ReplyDeleteI would like to see Kylie defraud David of the house, take the kids and scarper. Leaving David and Gail homeless and penniless. What? Do you think this show isn't all about meanness?
ReplyDeleteWowie - those are some mighty big earrings she's wearing .... :-)
ReplyDeleteLol! Had to flip back up to see them LindaSonia Anyname. They're even bigger than Becky's ever were! Good luck to Paula Lane I am sure her earlobes will be relieved.
ReplyDeleteI certainly hope they leave the door open for her to come back, as Paula Lane is a brilliant actress.
ReplyDeleteSince it was her decision to leave I don't hold much hope that they will leave the door open for her to return - Corrie doesn't seem to take too kindly to the people that decide to leave.
ReplyDeleteNOOOO!! Don't go! Corrie is never going to be the same for me again. I have loved her spunk since she came to the show. I will truly miss not seeing her on the show. Only one left for me now is Anna! Good luck and best wishes Paula. You will be awesome at whatever comes next for you.
ReplyDeleteThat's too bad. I really enjoy Paula as Kylie. Having said that, I can't blame her for leaving to pursue other opportunities. She's very talented.
ReplyDeleteI would nonetheless like Corrie to recast Kylie. David and Kylie are a great couple on the canvas. Why wouldn't another talented actress be able to fill the role?
Such a doll...I wish her all the best..it can't be easy with a babe at home and another on the way...exhausting for sure. I too am looking forward to the end of the Platt's.
ReplyDeleteCharacters exiting is and has been part of this show. I am neither happy nor sad about Kylie. I just wish the rest of the annoying Platt clan including Audrey and Michael were leaving as well...oh, Michael is leaving...
ReplyDeleteVery bad decision, IMO. I'd rather start a petition to get rid of Tracy Barlow instead.
