Corrie weekly awards Jan. 4 - 8
Powerhouse scene: Rob and Carla. Rob might think he had the upper hand but Carla scored as many points or more. What a fantastic pair these are, very believable as siblings.
Speculation Street: The gossip mill doesn't know the truth about Carla's parentage (yet) but that doesn't mean they can't make something up!
Obvious Woman award: Joanne keeps making excuses to come round to see Kevin.
Voice of Reason award: I love that Eva was able to talk to Aidan. She does know how it feels when a parent has lied to you all your life.
Fire Fail: That was an awful lot of fire for a dozen or so letters in a metal bin and it spread like everything was soaked in gasoline.
Public Service award: Surely the council isn't responsible for removing grafitti off a privately owned building like the garage?
Contrivation Street: So a few hours through the morning, the Council had that whole mural completely cleaned off without anyone at all noticing the workers or a van that they likely had parked out on the street? Not even anyone that works in the pub and is probably in and out all the time with crates and deliveries and things? I think not.
Soft Spot award: Norris doesn't often show his softer side, but he does still have that soft spot for Maddie.
Helping Hand award: Anna for breaking up with Joanne on Kevin's behalf with a huge lie or two! Loved it!
Lines of the week
Luke "All Maria sends me are selfies with donkeys in the background" Sophie "Maybe that's all you deserve!"
Tracy "When Robert sees what a blooming success this place is, he'll realize what he's been missing out on"
Mary to Rita "You'd like that wouldn't you? The chance to gallop into town on a horse named I Told You So"
Erica "If at first, you don't succeed..." Anna "Open up a box of chocolates and have a good cry|
Tracy to Ken "And you and Nessa are the new Posh and Becks?"
Liz to Sean who was earwigging "This is a private conversation" (then don't conduct it in the middle of a pub!)
Mary "I suppose you two are becoming a moralistic double act, now. A sort of disapproving Sonny and Cher"
Erica to Anna "You mean you have no gossip that I'm not supposed to know?"
Carla "I knew it would open a can of worms but not one this big"
Sophie about Joanne's manicure "Was they nails or was they claws?"
Joanne "I thought I'd found a decent man" Anna "Oh no, he is decent, he just can't say no to other women" (HA!)
Craig "I will always divide people"
Dev about his new gym top "It's like muscle compression gear" Aadi "Don't you have to have muscles for that?" (out of the mouths of babes!)
Kate "I dropped the F-bomb (family). Better get used to it"

I believe Craig said 'Art will always divide people', not 'I'.
ReplyDeletePopcorn and Front Row Seat Award: to Sophie who begged her Dad to let her be there when he tells Sally about him and Anna!
ReplyDeleteHow would the council's anti-graffiti squad even know the Maddie art was there? When called to clean up one particular piece of graffiti do they then automatically scour the entire area (including a back street ginnel) for any more?
ReplyDeleteAnd IIRC, didn't Cathy have about half a dozen fire extinguishers in her junk-filled living room? I guess they must have been about the only thing that was cleared before the fire!
It was mentioned that the Council wouldn't clean graffiti from a private property, but Kevin said they would clean the bus stop. Didn't someone say there was a council team in the area already? Otherwise it's totally incredible that any council would act that quickly!
ReplyDeleteI'm guessing this graffiti business is the stimulus for Sally becoming involved in politics. If so, it's a highly unusual platform on which to stand! The inversion of her middle-class outrage at the council REMOVING graffiti is rather funny.
Thanks for the reminder that we've done the "I am your father" storyline as recently as Leanne and the Beige One. Was there a Star Wars film released at that time as well?
ReplyDeleteI'm not very good at this adulting thing trophy: a four way tie between Joanne for constantly popping up like a love sick 14 year old; Johnny for not being able to tell the truth to 2 of his supposedly adult offspring; Mary for thinking it's okay to have a make out session at Devs while he's not home; and Aidan for forgetting to use his words and going straight to the tantrum fists.
