When Adele was in Coronation Street

Adele is riding high and all over the papers at the moment with the release of her single Hello from her new album, 25.  It's her first album in three years and has been highly anticipated by fans.

It prompted me to think about Adeles that might have been on Coronation Street.  With the help of Corriepedia, we can confirm there have been two actors named Adele on the show, and one writer.  Sadly we can't find any evidence of any characters called Adele, but if you know different, it'd be great to hear from you!

But that's not going to put us off... so here we go with our blog post about when Adele was in Coronation Street!

The most famous Adele on Coronation Stree was scriptwriter Adele Rose.

Between 1961 and 1998 Adele Rose wrote 457 episodes of Coronation Street, three of them co-written with Jack Rosenthal, Eddie Maguire and Alan Hardman.

A Salford-born former secretary she was encouraged to try to become a writer by Jack Rosenthal (with whom she co-wrote two episodes). She first saw programme when it began in December 1960 and felt "that perhaps the script needed a woman's touch. They had all those women in the cast, and all the writers were men." Having previously worked at Granada as a secretary, she rang up Harry Kershaw who encouraged her to send in a sample script.

A prolific writer of scripts for other programmes such as The Dustbinmen and Z Cars she created and wrote the popular BBC children's soap Byker Grove. In 1993 she was one of the joint-winners of the Writers' Guild of Great Britain Award. She was one of the writers who left the show in the wake of Brian Park becoming Producer in 1997. One of her final contributions was the story idea for the VHS spin-off Coronation Street: Viva Las Vegas!.

Adele was one of the bridesmaids at Patricia Phoenix's wedding to Alan Browning in 1972.

Adele Lawson appeared in Coronation Street in June 1995 as a Nurse who tended to the dying Samir Rachid and Tracy Barlow who had recently undergone an operation on her kidneys.

Adele Parry is an actress who appeared in Coronation Street as an unnamed paramedic in August and December 2010, returning to the role in May 2015.

Adele is currently the Principal Head of Movement and Dance at the Saddleworth Drama Centre.
