Ted Robbins arrives in Coronation Street tonight

Comedian and comic actor Ted Robbins has starred on stage and screen for over 40 years. Tonight, he turns up in Coronation Street as the editor of The Inexplicable, Mary's favourite magazine.

Ted started out as a warm-up artist for live studio audiences and he went on to play roles in Benidorm, Birds of a Feather and most notably as Peter Kay's nemesis, Den Perry, in Phoenix Nights.

Now, in his first role since his brush with death in front of 15,000 people when he collapsed during a live show, Ted is stepping onto Corrie tonight as Mary’s new love interest, Brendan.

He was interviewed today on This Morning and you can watch the interview here.

  1. Just curious. Is Brendan (and Nessa who also debuts tonight) a regular role or is he only going to be a guest character?

  2. He was good! Anyone that takes Norris down a peg or two is ok in my books!

  3. Good to have a new character who can actually act! I loved the way he dealt with Norris. Another point, it's all very well Mary writing a novel, but should she be doing it while "working" in the Kabin, a job she is surely being paid for? I was appalled that both Mary and Norris refused to help 80-year - old with the Halloween decorations.

  4. Oops! Omitted "Rita" after "80-year-old".

  5. @ Anon 13:40 Mary probably shouldn't be writing her novel in the middle of the Kabin, but does she even get paid for helping out there? Mostly I was impressed that she could concentrate with Norris nattering on next to her!
