Cathy's sister arrives - and gives Ken the glad-eye

There's a Coronation Street spoiler in The Sun which says Cathy's sister Nessa will arrive on the show - and she sets her cap at Ken.

Nessa is being described as "a man-eater" and it seems likely that she'll be the mum of Cathy's nephew - played by Down's Syndrome actor Liam Bairstow. Read more on him here.

But while Nessa makes it clear that she fancies Ken and give him the glad-eye, it's not clear whether Ken feels the same.

I do hope not, it's far too soon after Deirdre's death.  What do you think?

  1. Too soon. I know they did that with Ken after Val died but it seems wrong considering Anne Kirkbride's death.

A woman trying to her get her claws into him could be interesting, but somebody like Audrey or Rita to warn them off.

  2. I also think it's way too soon and an insult to the memory of Anne Kirkbride. She portrayed an iconic character and Deirdre and Ken were one of Corrie's iconic couples and to think Deirdre can be 'replaced' a mere tow months after her death is insulting.Perhaps the writers don't know what to do with Ken now?

  3. As always with tabloid spoilers, take their words with a pinch of salt.

  4. I won't mind if it's a one way thing. I think even for womanizer Ken this is a bit too soon. I still fear they may be going down the Ken and Audrey road, in the future.

  5. It doesn't say he responds so let's wait and take it with a pinch of salt. - Micky

  6. To repeat a question - just where is Audrey?

  7. Pretty strong responses here. As a rumor that doesn't indicate that Ken reciprocates, I suppose a new woman on the Street wouldn't know Ken's circumstances at first and might try a go at him. Doesn't mean anything will happen. Although Deirdrie was/is an icon and she's only just left our screens, with all due respect Anne Kirkbride has not been seen on screen for a long time in soap time/years; maybe that's why the writer's don't feel it's "too soon"?

  8. Somehow I can't help feeling like Ken and Leanne will end up together in a distant future episode. It seems impossible yet somehow makes sense from a soap perspective, where whomever is left standing ends up together.

  9. Not to mention the age gap. If Cathy's sister is the mother of that teenage boy, she won't be that old, certainly not too far from Cathy's age and that's a good 25 years younger than Ken! But you know, and i've seen this happen, when a man loses his wife, single women, particularly widows, often make a point to come clustering around, bringing food, looking for companionship and in one or two incidences in my own extended family, I've seen men take up with a new woman just months after losing their wives. Everyone has different circumstances and in one of these cases, it's been a very successful relationship to a really nice person. In the other case, it didn't last very long but he did later marry a lovely woman, someone that was an old friend to both he and his late wife for many years.
